exchanging table meals for counter meals

has anyone taken advantage of this?
when we were there in sept they asked us if we wanted to swich over to all counter meals and take advantage of the special gifts they were offering

i told the guy that i had been planning the trip for over 6 months and was not going to give up the table meals, boy was i wrong

we usually travel alone but this year the sister in law, husband, and 5 yr old came with us and even though i gave them a spreadsheet showing how much tips they would have to contribute for each table meal, they "forgot" to bring extra cash
i wound up shelling out all of the tips as well as the extras everyone ordered (glow in the dark captain hook drinks, perrier water, etc)

i already booked the bounce back for next year and wanted to change all meals over to counter meals, has anyone taken advantage of this offer and what "gifts" were they offering as an incentive?

thanks

I don't think you can "switch over" your Table Service credits en-masse, but you *can* use a Table Service credit for a Counter Service credit at each transaction. You just need to make sure to tell the CM at the register that that's what you want to do.

If you do this during the Free Dining promotion, they'll give you a coupon that's good for either two additional Snacks (both additional Snacks must be redeemed at the same time), or a little mesh cinch-sack/sling-type bag with the WDW logo on one side.

We ended up doing this on our last day. We had two left-over Table Service credits. At first we were going to eat at Prime Time Cafe for lunch, but then decided we'd rather spend the time before departure riding attractions. So we waited to have lunch until we got back to the hotel, did a Counter Service lunch, and then on the way out to the DME bus we stopped and got two boxes of cookies and one of the cinch-sacks for my neice.

I don't know of the availability of these options outside of the Free Dining promotion.

you might be able to b/c don't they offer a new Counter Service Dining Plan? It might not be any more savings - so it would essentially be doing what the above poster said, just using a CS for a TS. :)

Yes
I saw signs while eating counter service meals to redeem table service meals for counter service meals. You got 2 snacks or a bag.

I can see why some people would, but I would never make that change.

Me either - between the Character Breakfasts and big dinners, I usually end up paying for one CB out of pocket. :slurp: I thought about getting the deluxe dining plan that has more TS available but then I think that is too much foodies for us. :)

table for counter meals

we have been going to wdw during the month of sept for either 9 or 10 days now for the past 12 years, by birthday falls on sept 17 and we always combine that with the halloween party together

once they started the free dining it was just an extra perk for us

we live in new york and only have one income (partner is disabled) so we try and save money any way we can

now that the tip is no longer included we spent well over $350 during our 9 day stay, some counter meals offer just as much if not more food than some table meals

a sandwich at the Plaza is just not worth a table meal but a single chicken and rib combo at the counter service is more than enough for 2 people

If they don't offer free dining this fall, I'd look into the QS Dining Plan:

Disney’s Magic Your Way plus Quick Service Dining Package

Less then $30 per adult (ages 10+) $9 per child (age 3-9) per night above the cost of the Magic Your Way Package.

Accommodations for 1-14 nights at a Walt Disney World owned and operated Resort

Magic Your Way Ticket with your choice of length and options

WDTC Package Exclusives

2 Quick Service Meal per Guest, per night
Meal includes: Entrée or entrée combo, Dessert, and non-alcoholic Beverage

2 Snack per Guest per night

Refillable drink mug per person (refillable only at the resort in which you are staying and for current visit only)
