Trip Report Everything Is Just So Peachy Keen! *COMPLETED*

It certainly was for us Georgia peaches this last week! For those who may be new here, let us introduce ourselves. We are Tuvalu and Em, a mother-daughter duo who love traveling together to Walt Disney World. We take multiple trips per year (this was our third for 2022) and for us, time spent at our resort is just as important to us as time spent in the parks. Slow-paced relaxation is vital to us!

I’m sure this laid-back vibe is what draws people to cruises: pools, bars, a variety of restaurants and activities from which to choose . I can’t do ships. But I can happily “land cruise” at WDW!

Hope you decide to follow along and learn about the surprises on our most recent voyage.

When: July 20-27, 2022
Where: Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resorts

A half bath has a sink and a toilet.
What do you call a room with a sink and a shower? 🤷🏻‍♀️

In my part of Switzerland it would be called a “separated” bathroom. Until fairly recently most apartments had a small room with toilet (with or without sink depending on the age of the building) and then another room with the bathtub and sink. And one bedroom apartments must have a bathtub (not just a shower) unless the building will be used as student, elderly or disability housing; in those instances the builder can apply for an exception to put in only a shower. Two bedroom or larger apartments are now required to have at least two bathrooms so usually one has a tub and the other a shower.

A 3/4 bath. Or so I’ve been told.
A “washroom” has a shower/tub and a wash basin/sink; No toilet.

A 3/4 bathroom has a sink, toilet and shower, as opposed to a full bathroom which has a tub.

Grew up surrounded by contractors. 😄

Wow....that's standard there? In the Netherlands, most people do not have bathtubs. I had to fight to get my bathtub...I HAVE to have a bathtub, and my husband wanted one too, but my MIL tried really hard to keep us from getting one, going so far as volunteering to show the contractor what needed to be done upstairs while we were doing other stuff. I happened to walk by just as she was pointing out the upstairs bathroom, telling him that's where the laundry facilities were going, and I had to swoop in and correct her. I took over the tour with the contractor and told him where everything was actually supposed to go, but my MIL was pouting because she didn't think it was fair that I was going to have a bathtub in my house. It's not very common here and it's kind of considered a luxury. She kept telling me I had to choose between a bathtub, laundry facilities, a dishwasher, or the separate toilet. I said nope, I was going to have all of them, as it was our house and we were paying for it. But I thought that was a European thing....not having a bathtub. Is that JUST the Netherlands?

Isn‘t it weird how different things are from country to country?! Ok, odd question time: if most people don’t have bathtubs, where/how do you wash infants and small children? In the shower?!

Hi @Swissmiss
In our house we have two bathrooms on our bedroom level
The ensuite has sink , toilet and shower
The family bathroom has sink , toilet and bathtub with shower
We also a powder room ( sink and toilet) on our main floor and in our basement
So I think we have 2 full and two halfs

This worked out well for the kids growing up to have a tub in their bathroom

And for the record I never knew what to ask directions to when at Disney recently

I do not want a room to rest in
Or to wash in
Or to take a bath ….

Sunday, con’t

While Woody and I were at the Riviera pool I had managed to snag a same-day dinner ADR. It required a monorail ride so we walked over to the Great Ceremonial House to board.

Kona Cafe had just closed for refurbishment. (Two months later the restaurant is still closed but I believe it reopens next month.) Earlier my Facebook-scrolling mom had sent me a somewhat panicked text, “is it true that Kona is closed?” but I believe she confused Kona with Capt. Cooks and was concerned we’d have no quick service option during our stay.

I sent her this picture and told her we hadn’t planned on eating at Kona.

Fall had arrived at the MK a full month early!

I really like MK’s fall decor so it didn’t bother me to see it in August. On our way to dinner Woody noticed the Tinkerbell 50th anniversary statue.

I know this was the first time I’d seen it, but what I can’t remember is:

A. @TrolleyFollower91 have you seen it?
OR
B.
Em has seen it, pointed it out to me, I ignored her and murmured “Uh huh” while hurrying to our next destination.

I was feeling some comfort food and knew where to find it. This was our view as we waited to be called in.

Woody and I were seated at a table for 6. Our other 4 friends never showed up.

At least we weren’t stuck at a two-top next to a pole or right in front of a door.

The food - always plentiful - was especially tasty tonight. We rarely eat the rolls (“fillers” according to Martin Crane) but we both ate an ample serving of salad.

TURKEY!!! We have TURKEY!!

It was only two slices but Woody let me have them. He’s more of a pork and pot roast guy. I also sampled the pot roast and (dare I say?) it was even better than the turkey.

Nothing like an Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake when it’s good….and this was GOOD!!!

Sorry for derailing, @Tuvalu !

No, we have special baby bathtubs on a stand so you don't kill your back leaning over, or slip getting out yourself while holding your baby. https://www.mamaloes.nl/mamaloes-wi...Jq6wgKthFgQCGq5n3_BgRvU22G-W9oNxoCztgQAvD_BwE

Then as they grow, I guess most people would use a shower...I wouldn't know, because I made sure I have a bathtub.
