Everest Ride System

What kind of ride system will Everest use. I have heard that it will be much like the one on the Tokyo Journey To The Center Of The Earth. I have also heard to expect nothing more than a steel Matterhorn type coaster. I have also heard that the Tokyo ride system may appear on the new Spaceship Earth attraction. I am a little confused by the differences in these 2 rumored attractions. Any ideas?

Everest is a coaster (most likely built by either Intamin AG, Vekoma, or S&S Arrow)..... but look for it to be very unique, in that it likely features backwards portions, while still being a full circuit coaster......

Yeah same question here. What is Rocket Rods?

Also, where are they building this thing...by Kali River Rapids over by the river...or between Asia and Africa? I've heard both...it makes more sense to put this thing by the river...then they can build the bridge connecting Dinoland and Asia.

Rocket Rods is a ride they added to Disneyland's new Tomorrowland using a Test Track/ JTCOTE ride system on their TTA/Peoplemover track. It didn't last long, and major technical and structural difficulties caused the ride to be completely shut down.

It had been widely assumed till this past weekend that Everest would be located on the coast of Asia, with a connecting bridge to Dinoland being built..... but several sighting and occurances this weekend have done everything (except confirm) that Everest will indeed be located towards the interior of Asia, between Rifiki's Planet Watch and Kali River...... we'll know for sure tomorrow afternoon.

I've heard that S&S Arrow (got to get use to that) is doing Everest. Hopefully we'll know for sure tomorrow.

I thought I read that Intiman is doing the new Space Mountain @ DL.

Have you ever ridden a Vekoma outdoor coaster? They tend to get VERY rough after only a few seasons, downright PAINFUL after about five seasons. Intamin is far smoother--they like building the very tall, yet not too intense, coasters--like Cali Screamin, all of the Superman-Rides of Steel, Millennium Force, etc. Disney has gone with Intamin for a couple of its outdoor coasters recently, including Big Thunder Mountain in Paris and Cali Screamin', so that would be my best bet.

Einie meenie, minie, mo.....(wait, is someone going to sue me??)

It seems like everyone has a different opinion. I'll say it's going to be made by TLB, Enterprises.

I've polled some pretty "in the know" people, and Vekoma is the most common answer as to who is the likely manufacturer.
Yeah, their outside installations tend to get a bit rough, but their newest mine train, like maybe similar to Everest, looks pretty nice:

Hey, wait, Big Thunder is a Vekoma, isn't it? That is still running sweetly after about 25 years.

I think the rumored LIM lifthills, in addition to the "conceptual" nature of the ride (backwards, etc), would lead me to believe in Intamin or S&S Arrow more than Vekoma, who tend to be more concervative in their designs (at least compared to Intamin and S&S Arrow)....

As for personal preference, i'd take Intamin any day..... their recent track record has been nothing short of excellent, and has practically solidified them as the best coaster manufacturers at the moment..... this is evident in rides like California Screaming, Millenium Force, the 3 Superman: Rides of Steel, Xcellerator, Top Thrill Dragster, Volcano, Goliath (Holland), etc...... I can only hope that the south's first modern Intamin comes to us in the form of Everest.....

Right. Vekoma and S&S Arrow don't have nearly as nice records--S&S Arrow with their X at Magic Mountain that has been nothing but trouble since it opened, and Vekoma with their nightmarish suspended coasters that are often called Mind Eraser because of how painful they are. By the way, the only Big Thunder that is built by Vekoma is in Paris. I think it is more the Vekoma rides that go 60 mph that hurt, and Everest will go that fast, whereas the Big Thunders reach about 40 mph. I'm sure it would be fine if Vekoma did it anyway--Disney is not going to let someone build them a bad coaster for $100 million.

Big Thunder hits 40mph??? I thought the top speed was like 30-35 but I may be wrong.

(Or am I thinking of Space?...I just thought Space was around 30 mph too)
