Going OT for a min.....
Thats not suprising with Time Magazine. While i would hope that there would be a line between editorial content and the buisiness side of their parent company, Time-Warner, i gotta see this as more as a case of synergy and promotion of a product.
Since iTunes promotes the legal sale of music, some of which is owned by Time-Warner, it's pretty simple to see why Time chose it as their 'invention of the year' - Beacuse it increases THEIR profits. Its a severe conflict of interest and underminds the objectivity of the magazine.
Ten years ago, i'd never have thought TW was able to do anything that underhanded, but since AOL bought them? Anything is possible....
That and its not like iTunes is anything new or revolutionary; its just a beefed up, commercial store that sells MP3s. Ecommerce has been around for 10 years, and MP3 technology has been around since before Napster. So where is this a "new" invention? :fork: :fork:
