I didn't read anywhere that he HAD to have a beer... Just that the price of one would be $5.75.

And... If one chooses to have a beer during their day at WDW (or anywhere else for that matter), I'm not sure you have the right to judge them for it.

And... It sounds like you and I obviously have very different tastes when it comes to food quality. Especially compared to what you used to be able to get at WDW.

Well I'm sure if the poster did not plan ahead he was unable to get any sort of table dinning due to the crowds, so he was stuck getting counter service food for his family for every meal which does leave a bit to be desired depending on where you get it from. So that is a valid complaint.

But to say all food in WDW is of poor quality is a gross misstatement. Many of the table service restaurants have excellent food and wonderful atmosphere. So a big generalization like that is still a bit irritating.

It's not just a valid complaint, imho - it's my biggest complaint. You shouldn't have to plan 6 months ahead of time to be able to sit down at dinner on your vacation. It's a joke.

You're attempting to visit a set of parks and resorts that embrace hundreds of thousands of people on a daily basis. A little planning ahead of time, be it 6, 3 or even 1 month out would save anyone a lot of hassle. This holds true for any vacation........

Disney has done everything it can to remove any possible spontaneity from their parks. I enjoy not having to plan every detail of my trip out 6 months ahead of time. I shouldn't need to know what I want to eat that far out in advance to have a waiter.

The spotaneity shouldn't come from the planning; it should come from your enjoying the vacation itself. A little planning ahead of time simply helps to ensure that. And anyone who wants to spend thousands on a WDW vacation (or any other one for that matter) but not spend one iota on planning it will not get what they paid for in the end....

I don't feel pity for people who don't plan/research. If they don't go to WDW again, I'm okay with that. One less group of people that will take up the line on the ride that I wanna ride. :D

Disney still has numerous table service and some quick service locations that are outstanding.

The bad news is you have to look for them a little harder. The good news is they are in less travelled areas of the resort.

So if you showed up in lets say, New York, with no plans other than a hotel stay would it be New York's fault that you could not eat at some of the higher end restaurants or see a particular Broadway show because they were booked up 6 months in advance?

I guess I'm like a lot of people on here, I privately laugh at the people who hate WDW. It isn't for everyone granted, but in this day and age when we can Google everything imaginable under the sun there is no excuse to not know things ahead of time. I'm not saying you have to Youtube every single attraction (and you can really) but do a little research. This is one of the biggest attraction destinations in the WORLD don't go in with blinders.

For example MK alone had 17 million visitors in 2009. Do the math, that's THOUSANDS of people that will be in that park on a daily basis. This isn't Six Flags. Disney is style and substance, you have to experience it all to know what it's about. Know about the fast passes, learn about the parade times, SpectroMagic, Wishes fireworks, etc. Find out the "must do" attractions. If you do 90% of them in one day that's fine, but if you miss Winnie the Pooh that's fine, just don't miss Pirates.

I asked a guy I work with who recently went with his grandkids. He was very indifferent about it. His complaints about the "Magical Kingdom" ranged from a park not having the audacity to serve beer, to it geared towards kids and nothing else. He didn't see Pirates. He didn't see Space Mountain - never even KNEW about it. He didn't bother to see Wishes or Spectro because "one fireworks show is like the other". He went into the park with a skeptical mindset and it ruined it for him. He never went to Epcot, never went to DHS or AK. He thought it was lame. Fine by me, but it doesn't stop him from telling the whole world what a waste it would be.

And that's the problem. People who have never been there before might just listen to him. WDW will be spontaneous for the first time visitor regardless, but learning a thing or two and realizing you can't just peel through the place like a bat out of hell is another thing. Educate yourself, there is no excuse with the internet

Yes, I would call Bloomberg immediately.

EDIT: Here's one thing I know ... when I want to eat dinner at the Blue Bayou, I walk into Disneyland at 8am, walk to the Blue Bayou and make reservations, and enjoy myself. It used to be that way in the Magic Kingdom. Now, personally, I find that dining in the Orlando parks sucks.

Then why are you complaining about making reservations for those restaurants then?

I hate to put it this way but so what? I can walk into my local Japanese restaurant any time I like but it does not mean that I should be able to do the same with Teppan Edo.

I'm a customer. It's the same company and they have two different policies at different places. I'm stating that I prefer one over the other. The Orlando way sucks, imho. The California way is infinitely more enjoyable, imho. Disney gets a lot less of my money under the current system than they would under the old system.

This is still a message board where people state opinions right?

Yeah, and there's still a difference between expressing an opinion and incessantly complaining about everything.....

It sucks because of the reservation system.

If my two posts on the subject are too much for you to handle ...

Well, last time I checked it was more than two posts, but facts and complaints seldom go hand-in-hand...

We got it, you love getting up at 6AM six months before you intend to eat so you can make reservations. Disney is the greatest!!!! Woohoo!!! This system is so great because we're cool and we know how to best work it and all those other rubes that are going on their first vacation are wasting all their money and can't even sit down and have a waiter! I bet they wish they were just like us and knew every nook and cranny of every park and every arcane system Disney has set up so it can be different than everywhere else in the world!!!

Actually, I made them about two months ago. But again, don't let the facts get in the way of another complaining tirade, errrr, expressing your opinion?

And if you don't like it, don't go, dont dine there. But good grief, if you're not going to do either, that doesnt quite make you a paying customer, does it? Or is that too many facts to get in the way of your incessant complaining?
