Evening Extra Magic Hours

when the park offers an evening Extra Magic Hours thing, is it just one hour after the park closes, or more? i've read conflicting things and can't figure out which is right.

for instance, when we go next month, Epcot says "Extra Magic Hours" in th evening. does that mean the park is open for just one more hour, or is it longer?

thanks for your help!

Evening EMH are for 3 hours after official park closing. It is listed as "up to 3 hours" because not everything stays open the entire time.

For example, this is what is normally open during EPCOT evening EMH--

OP? Can I get in with my annual pass?

OP = Original poster

An AP will get you into the park, of course, but unless you are staying in a WDW hotel, the Swan or Dolphin, Shades of Green or the Hilton at DTD you are not eligible for this perk.

Anyone can stay in the park for Evening EMH - but to take advantage of any of the attractions - you have to show your resort ID.

They won't kick you out of the park come closing time - by any means - as they certainly aren't going to kick you out of any of the stores still open. But again - the "catch" if you will, is that you have to be staying in a Disney Resort to take advantage of any of the attractions.

Soooo, if you aren't staying in a Disney Resort, for Evening EMH- basically the only things you can do is enjoy the atmosphere or shop (for however long the stores stay open after the official closing time).

For EMH in the morning - you definitly have to be staying in a Disney Resort to get into the park. You have to show your resort ID before you even get close to the ticket booths - let alone the main gates.

how is that? thought they were the same thing just a new name...

E ticket nights--- you pay and extra $12 per person (I thinks kids were cheaper) and you get to play for 3 hours, BUT they were limited to 5000 people... no waiting.

EMH --- is free to anyone staying on property (and the extra hotels as mentioned above) as long as you have a valid park ticket. There is no limit so the EMH are very crowded and the lines can be hours long.

E ticket nights rocked, EMH bites

so does the crowd lessen much during those 3 hours? we are staying on property at WDW and are looking forward to taking advantage of the "extra hours" in the evening.

i noticed they are doing two "Fantasmic" shows and i was hoping the second show would not be overly "full" so we would not have to line up to get a seat way in advance.

This is an excellent summation of my opinion.:sohappy: There should be a "golf clap" smiley...

This seems to be true during all times of the year, as we've seen it in all different "seasons." I don't know when/where people are going and seeing no lines during Evening EMH. We decided after the last trip that we were going to choose another park and avoid EMH. This is especially true during times of the year when the parks close around 8:00 (like during our trip last month), because if another park is open til 11, guess where everyone will be...
