I asked because I think a barge wouldn't fit through the small opening in the octagon. Unless the central barge is small that is.

It most definitely will. There's a pylon off to the side inside the octagon. It's obviously not a wide barge, probably just a long one. The pylons also will help guide docking so it can't go askew.

You can tell it'll go from the original earth dock to the pylon.

What made me think of the RoL lotus was the center tower that rises up and the newer concept art for Luminous has what appears could be a tower of some sort?
