News EPCOT's Harmonious to be replaced with new nighttime spectacular Luminous

I think it needed more work than that to function in the space. The central barge facing only one prime viewing area was another blunder. Anything they do needs to play to the entire lagoon perimeter.
If only they could discover a round, 3-dimensional shape that is visible from all directions? They could even project the continents onto it.

Oh, well. The search continues for such a shape. Half of WDI is currently on a research trip to remote areas of India to search for one.

Late 2023 all being well. But it is still early in dev, so we will see how it goes.
Damn, I knew Aug was a pipe dream but was really hoping NOT to see Epcot Forever a third time. Saw it 2019 and 2021.

Any thoughts on how long it will take to remove the barges? Hoping they will at least be gone and out of sight by our Aug trip. Seeing them out in the lagoon in Aug 2021 was double bad as sights sucked and I didn't even get to enjoy the show.

Happy World Showcase will be looking much better by summer but I’d like to formally request that the word “phased” be banned from DPB posts. At this point, it gives me post-traumatic stress. Just say “We will present Epcot Forever nightly until later in the year as we dismantle the Harmonious infrastructure. It will not go down without a fight and we do not negotiate with terrorists.”
If Epcot has a serious time line about Harm's real replacement, you would think that TDO would move quickly on removing Harm. Question is, does WSL need any work after Harm is gone????

I guess it depends on how the development is going. I'm sure Harm has to be fully gone before any new testing on WSL.
Not before ANY testing starts, but yes, it will need to be gone well before the new show premieres. I haven’t seen a concrete timeline. Other than the late 2023 we’ve all seen.

My guess is longer than you'd expect or want and not just because they're being lazy.

There was barely room for them backstage during construction and they've obviously not expanded this area during the life of the show since it has gotten even less use as a result of them being permanently anchored.

They'll probably take them out one at a time and deal with getting them dismantled and hauled out before moving onto the next one which will probably be time-consuming - especially if they have any plans for these bardges or any of the major components that they'd like to still keep partially intact/usable.

I have to imagine these things aren't just heading to a recycle facility or the Atlantic as the start of a new artificial reef so some care will probably need to be taken.
