Those residuals are pennies compared to show like willow or a show that was inherited. Idina isn't get much for hosting that. If the show was good and actually still playing there is no way they are cutting it. For example Disney Epcot was still selling CD's that 3/4 was a show they stopped 19 years before. Why? because it was damn good and people wanted to hear it again.

Sure, not much but if there was zero savings why not just leave it? Doesn't hurt anything

Agree if the show was still playing they would have absorbed any cost as promotion but now no need

Doesn’t make to much sense but I wonder if WDW is being secretive about this new show because of USO also working on their new show? Or two other reasons could be it’s either running behind schedule or their laying low on releasing more details due to the DeSantis situation.

As for USOs new show if they really are going to be using drones then it’s almost guaranteed to be more popular and draw more attention than a simple show show at Epcot consisting of fireworks and lighting.

I'm betting there trying to figure out how minimal they can make it (Fireworks and music only.. no barges) and still claim it's "Amazing and pays homage to the legends that created Epcot and inspired dreamers today and tommorow"

Your probably right.

Universal still has to battle guests leaving the park early. Unlike at Epcot/Disney Parks, Universal isn't known for nighttime spectaculars (mainly Universal's fault for their inconsistent scheduling).

While I'm expecting Universal's new show to possibly be better, Disney has a pretty strong fanbase even with subpar additions.

Yeah, just tradition to end a day at a Disney Park with fireworks - was Walt's "thank you" to the guests for coming

So even lesser shows p ople look forward to as part of each day of their vacation ... Definitely not really a part of planning for most Universal guests

Even with all the complaints about IP or barges, Disney night shows are really, really good in comparison to pretty much anywhere else.

Honestly, I just watched a video of the Christmas fireworks at MK - loved it!!!

I read an article that explained this. Accounting-wise, Disney has to pay royalties to itself (i.e. the streaming division has to pay Disney Studios, LucasFilms, etc). So it becomes a cost to the platform of Disney+ and contributes to its deficit. This isn't something uniquely Disney, but is the way it works for all streaming providers and even all content providers. ABC, for example, pays royalties to whatever division made the content.

Also, by removing the show, they can take an impairment charge against its initial cost.

If there’s one thing the last couple of years have taught us, it’s that technology doesn’t mean a thing if the show doesn’t make you feel.

People complained so much about Harmonious but I guarantee people's minds would be blown if Universal or a regional theme park produced it.

Disney's "mediocre" would be another park's masterpiece

A regional park already did a drone firework show, and knocked the socks off people. Check out Kings Island 50th Show:

The drones will be part of the new show this summer.

Wow. An ode to coasters, The Brady Bunch, The Flintstones, Peanuts, Halloween, Christmas, and 'Merica.

The intro song sounds an awful like Happily Ever After.

The only mishap is at 3:05 when they sing, "It feels like we're gonna fly...," Tinker Bell didn't come out.

It was a perfect representation of the parks history and events. Feeling like we’re going to fly however is quite different at KI, quite a few of their coasters have some great airtime.

They are probably being so secretive because it may be another flop and don’t want backlash while under development

IMO disney should work with ECA2 paris again. FYI they previously worked with disney tp create braviseamo at tds so im pretty sure they could create something worthy for epcot.

this is their current latest project
