I would have to imagine the timeline of the creation of the show will involve reusing many of the lights and fountain elements on the barges no? While completely unflattering in the lagoon, the barges have more tech and show elements on them than many realize so it would seem to be a waste to sell that all off again.

What I would really love to see would be the planned (and cancelled) expansion of the backstage lagoon to hold larger pieces of show floats or tech, thats whats really holding them back imo.

OK. Left turn - why does ANY show there need to occupy and present to the whole lagoon? Especially all at once? Methinks part of the problem is the inability to craft AND maintain a show of that scale. There have been past shows just as entertaining but not as big. I would like to think quality over quantity would be good watchwords here. And since I ain't gonna get Illuminations or Tapestry, I want to be open to almost anything they give us (minus the Stargate and tacos) but the track record lately makes me worried.

The old barges were small enough to be dropped in and transported like launching a large boat already completed, I think they were removed and taken away in one piece to. I’d imagine these new ones could be either completed or being build in central shops right now as far as we know, perhaps the old ones will return with upgrades.

I believe the old ones were auctioned off well over a year ago. I recall seeing a small firework show company bought two small barges. When I say small, they were about the size of the ones you see the pyro crews moving in and out of the lagoon. Whatever wasn't auctioned was probably scrapped.

I think they want tens of thousands of people to be able to view the show every day, preferably after dining in one of their restaurants. A show that can be viewed around the entire lagoon accommodates that kind of crowd and also allows people to wander out of their expensive restaurants at any point around the lagoon and enjoy the show after their meal.

Yup, totally get that. And yet, since the demise of ROE, they haven't been able to come up with a satisfactory capability to do that. They failed badly enough they even admit it to the point of already removing the new equipment. Sadly, my thinking now is what will prevent them from repeating their last mistake(s). Hoping they don't bite off more than they can chew this time in the redesign.

But I'm not going to complain too much as I don't really have a dog in this hunt. Over the last 25 years, I've enough irreplaceable memories of ROE with my family so I put on my declining-by-degrees hat and sit back and sigh.

I'm hoping they just re-learn some lessons about how to design a show for this kind of venue. Giant screens and particularly the Stargate were always an odd choice for this kind of venue and I'm still kind of surprised no-one shot down this concept before it got very far along.
