Does anybody know what's going in behind the Japan pavillion? We were down over the last week and noticed it. Thanks for the info. Had a great time as always!

Yeah there's a big tarp up in the back. It's been there for a while too. But to be honest, I didn't notice it when I was at the Japanese pavilion, I noticed it from Canada.

Tarps were there in Aug. I assumed it was cosmetic.

Odd, because they just got a refurb last year...:lookaroun:shrug:

Rumor has it they are putting in a Godzilia attraction:lol:

Maybe that could be where they moved the Meet the World building from TDL when they "removed it"....at 26 year old promise is coming ture!!!!

Or it could be a something that is listed somewhere in the permit listings?

I know it's a long shot, but what about the Bullet Train attraction rumored to be in the works for Japan?

Anyone have more info or pics?

The mountain? Yes.

Meh, its alright IMHO. I'll take the bullet train idea anyday; more appropriate for WS as opposed to a coaster through a mountain.

And, yeah, I'm guessing cosmetic work is being done. Last year the work was on the turrents to the center and left. Guess they've moved to the right side of the pavilion now. Incidentally, China is having work done as well just to the left of the temple.

Seems like the Asian pavilions are ALWAYS in some state of refurbishment. Past three years or so, everytime I've been there, either Japan or China has had tarps on it. :hammer::mad:

Here's what it looks like from across the lagoon. Sorry, I don't have a day time or close up shot, but it gives you an idea.

Agreed...That's a EPCOT Center Original Concept! (TM)

And yes, I agree on the Asian Tarps...They are ALWAYS being worked on. I remeber that from 2006!:hammer:

In fact, even in my pictures from a 1998 trip, Japan was under tarps and Morocco too! Is WS never done?

THAT is a fantastic shot.

Yeah, those were the building under tarps in Aug...I thought the whole Pav got a refurb last year, right?

Thank you! Not bad for a little point and shoot.

From what I recall, it was the left part of the pavilion that went under last year, the area from the entrance across the moat left. The part that is now under tarps was left untouched I believe.

Odd!

I wonder why they did not just close down the Pav and do the whole thing at one time?

I mean...There is nothing in Japan....No one would miss anything, right?...?:lookaroun:lookaroun

I wouldn't. :lookaroun Just kinda walk right past the place these days. Occasionally we'll go up and wander through the pond area and see the fish, but otherwise, the pavilion is one big store, and since we never do any shopping at Disney, we skip-a-dee-doo-dah right past.
