Epcot to show all FIFA World Cup games from Brazil live

This is great for those at wdw who don't want to miss out on the biggest sporting event in the world. But the Brazilian groups won't be interested in watching any games other than the ones involving Brazil itself. Don't expect the lines to go down any.

Hey! I said they need to do something like this for the super bowl (if they don't already). I want to see a giant screen at the outside american theater!

EDIT: by the way...was there anything more specific other than "screens at epcot"?

Like the vast majority of Americans, I don't know much about soccer. Nor do I care to.

But this sounds like a great idea for international visitors at Epcot during this event! Not sure that they'll get more than a few hundred folks in there at any one time watching the thing, out of the 50,000+ people who visit Epcot in a day. But it's a great idea to give some international oomph and pizzaz to World Showcase. Bravo TDO!

I was an idiot and booked a trip to WDW during the World Cup. I know ESPN zone is a great place to watch sports, but I'm leary of the crowds and potential wait times. I just want to catch the US v Portugal game on Sunday the 22nd. Any other viewing location suggestions? Best resort bars to catch a game? Does Raglan Road have many TV's?

In a perfect world the following locations would be showing games: Rose & Crown, Biergarten, La Cava del Tequila,

The list of locations is at http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions...ot-to-show-all-fifia-world-cup-games-live.htm

Raglan Road does not have a lot of TVs.

If you plan on drinking, the $50/pp VIP table at ESPN Club is pretty reasonable (a burger and five domestics by my calculation). Unfortunately, the rest of my party will not consume enough food and drink to justify that price.

River Roost it is. Abita Amber & Turbodog are good options when fresh. Bartenders there are great. Had a good time watching a few NFL playoff games here last year.

Checked out the Odyssey on Saturday. Its pretty underwhelming. Very small TV's and really not too much seating.

I ended up watching the USA v Portugal match at Big River. It was a pretty good time. Although not many more people could have fit in the bar area. The bar set up is not the most efficient use of the space. Also, why does that place smell so bad? Its a restaurant shouldn't it smell good inside?

Which makes you wonder if they will do the same thing for the World Cup in 2018 when it will not be on ESPN, but instead carried by Fox.

That's a really good question!
For the World Cup games, during commercials they were playing music-over rather than the commercial audio.
They weren't about to let any unpaid advertising take place (well, the advertising was paid to ESPN...not Disney Parks and Resorts...).

They should've used the old bulky TV's to make it more appropriate! A 1985-86 era "It's A Sony" Trinitron would be awesome!

Are you asking why Big River smells the way it does or Odyssey? Big River has the wonderful smell of a mash tun making beer.

I thought the Odyssey was great. Big projector screen in the front and the wings of the room played the other game. Has couches, food, drinks, air conditioning, bathrooms and equally as excited fans.

Great to see them using the space, and offering something new, even if it's a pretty low-key temporary offering. Seems like a nice idea, though I don't think I would go to a theme park just to watch TV
A few years ago LSU had a big football game in during my December trip and my fiancé new before hand that I was watching that game somewhere on property. Ended up watching it in the waiting area for O'Hana with some other fans.

On my first college program, I was off on Thanksgiving and my boyfriend at the time and I watched the Packers/Lions game there as well.

I've watched some of the World Cup, including USA/Portugal at the Odyssey and I like it. It's great for people who want to watch the games but don't want to go all the way back to their resort to do so. It seems perfect if you're at Epcot and want to take a break for a little while. Get out of the heat (or rain) and watch some soccer.
