Epcot Money Grab

I am thinking of booking just me and the wife, leaving the kids at the BW (well my daughter is going on 17 so not really kids) while we are there. A nice surprise for her I think :) We can walk to Epcot, drink it up and then stumble back to the BW :)

If they extend this beyond September, it will definitely be incentive for me to change my lodging from Contemporary to Boardwalk. Assuming nothing keeps us from going on this trip, ours will be a kid free trip, so it's the perfect time to try something like this. I'm sure your wife will definitely appreciate the surprise :)

Epcot - After Hours Wind Down - Spice Road Table
9:20 PM - Special
Epcot®

We had ADRs at 50s Prime Time that night but I just changed them to Biergarten at 7pm, we can eat there, the kids (again 16, 15 and 11, don't want folks thinking I am leaving my 6 yr old alone!) can then go back to the BW and swim and the wife and I can hit up the booze and eats. I predict more than one drink each :) $70 + but what the heck, it should be awesome !

I choose the Spice Table just because I have never been there. The tequila cave was tempting though :) We ate at San Angel last trip, I had two tequila flights at dinner. We rode the boat ride in Mexico after that, yep that was pretty cool.

I owe her a surprise anyways. The whole BW resort was a surprise but that was ruined when I changed our plans again, but for a good reason. I will have to write that up in a pre trip report. This trip has had a rocky planning session :)

If it was just a $35 cover charge for 2 hours in a lounge I would call it a ripoff. However since it includes some food and drink, it doesn't seem that bad. It depends what you get. Although it could last a bit longer than 2 hours...
This is why I'm just fine with shelling out the cash. It's a cover charge, but you also get the beverage flight and some snacks with it. In my eyes, it's certainly worth all that, plus the ability to spend some extra time relaxing in WS at night. I'm totally down.

I would like to know what you get before putting this on my must do list. I'd like to feel like the $35 is more for the sampling items than the cover charge.

I wish they had this last month, I would of definitely booked it at least once. I don't see it as a ripoff or money grab, I see it as awesomeness, lol. I would like to know if I could walk around the WS or if I had to stay at the place though but either way, I'd still do it.

I just want to know what makes it worth $35. I'll wait to hear some experiences, maybe it could eventually turn into a lounge bar hop where you can go to all 4 lounges with snack buffets AND a beer/cocktail sampler at each, this would also have to last till midnight or 12:30.

I feel bad for the bus drivers that have to deliver all the drunks back to their hotels. But on the subject, to me it is way overpriced, since I am like cw1982 and won't drink over a couple of drinks and get sick if I try to drink with food. But if others are willing to pay it that great. But I think MVMCP is way overpriced too.

WS ought to stay open till 11pm daily or at least THU-SUN. I see no reason why they must close it at 9pm daily, it's a wasted opportunity really.

I don't call this a money grab, I'm willing to pay extra for a lot of stuff, but this won't be one of them. I rather do EMH. That's two hours more and I pay nothing else for it (except the extra 30% more I already paid to stay on site of course).

Here's what gets me angry and no one is talking about it. The park stayed open until 10-11 just last year. This year they are closing it at 9 then saying you can stay until 11 (like last year) but if u do u must spend at least $35 in one of four restaurants AND we are not going to keep any attractions open.

So basically they took those extra hours away and are selling them back to you while saving costs from staffing attractions. That to me is a money grab.

If this were added on to the closing hours of 10 or 11 pm, truly making it after hours, then I would think its a great option.

You wanna know what a money grab is? $14 for a soda and popcorn at the movies, now there is a money grab
:)
Actually, the studios have raised the showing costs on the reels, coupled with forcing all theaters to go digital, this is the a theater makes most of it's money, not through the ticket sales.
