Epcot lovers

I loved EPCOT. It was my favorite of the Parks when I visited in 1996. I don't love Epcot as much. I'd probably rate it second place...mainly because there are a few of the originals I encountered in 1996 left (SSE, Circle of Life, Living with the Land, Ellen's Energy Adventure, the American Adventure, Impressions de France, O Canada). There are a few recent attractions I like - Reflections of Earth and Mission: Space, and I'm okay with the recent changes to El Rio Del Tiempo and Wonders of China. I hope the future brings back the quality, creativity, inspiration, and edu-tainment of EPCOT, though. I miss that.

The British Invasion is an awesome Beatles tribute group. The play in the little square across the street from the Rose and Crown on a regular basis. Show times are listed in the Times Guide.

It is hard to explain, really, what it is about Epcot that makes you either love it or not. It is definitely my favourite WDW park, but I can't really explain why and I know my wife and kids don't like it nearly as much as I do.

Test Track is one of my favourite WDW rides and that probably has a lot to do with it, but I love everything else about the place. I really enjoy the World Showcase and get a special feeling when visiting Canada (home sweet home), but again, I practically have to drag the rest of the family to experience it with me. Soarin' is really cool and I guess I just like the whole atmosphere of the park, especially on a nice sunny day.

Oh well! Like I said, I think you are either really fond of Epcot or you aren't. C'est la vie!

I can understand why some people don’t enjoy EPCOT. Especially when I was younger, I didn’t like EPCOT at all. But at some point over the past 6 or 7 years I’ve developed a strong interest in the lifestyles of different cultures. Whenever I’m walking through the World Show Case, I always talk with the cast members. I talk with them about the merchandise in the stores or ask their suggestions on what is a good thing on their menu that is a true taste of their country. They are always willing to talk with you. They like to tell you about their homeland and let you know why certain thing are important in their culture or how their little trinkets work. It always fascinates me. In many of the pavilions they will write you name in their language and maybe teach you a couple words.

The same goes for the cooling station. I love trying sodas from around the world. Some of them taste horrible, but it’s cool to know what other people’s popular drinks are. I really really like China’s watermelon Soda. If I knew where I could buy bottles of that, I would be so happy!
I luv Epcot!
IllumiNations, Tapestry of Nations/Dreams (it's over but I luv the music of both-videos are on YouTube as well-check out my page-I'm svhwdwnut-subscribe to me!), Innoventions music, the ground @ night, everything!

LOL! I was thinking about that, but I was always too young to try one! They're supposed to be tasty.

I was finally old enough this last time around! LOL (when I went on my honeymoon I was only 20 and not legal yet)

Put it this way - by the end of our week there, the very kind CMs in the stand knew my name (I paid with my credit card). They were as wonderful as could be and let me razz them with questions about their towns and culture.

Hail to the Mexican pavilion! BTW - I must try some of that cheddar cheese soup everyone mentions - it must be excellent if so many people rave about it.

I would only be repeating everyone else's excellent posts on why they love EPCOT. I love EPCOT so much I proposed to my fiance, almost a year ago already, on the bridge by the pond in Japan, right as Illuminations began. As soon as I bought her ring, I knew EPCOT would be the place.

Ahh...
"Good evening, and welcome to the place where dreams come true. We've gathered here tonight, around the fire, as people of all lands have gathered for thousands and thousands of years before us; to share the light and to share a story. An amazing story, as old as time itself but still being written. And though each of us has our own individual stories to tell, a true adventure emerges when we bring them all together as one. I hope you enjoy our story tonight; Reflections...of Earth. *blows out torches*"

I just found out from Wikipedia that the price of each showing is equivalent to college tuition!!

I know there are so many members on this board that would vote Epcot as their favorite park. It's always been last on my list. I keep thinking maybe I've missed something really fantastic that would change my mind. I want to understand. Can you tell my why you love Epcot?

I agree with you. Epcot's okay, but I just don't enjoy it like I enjoy the other Disney parks, or even Universal and Sea World. To me Epcot is more of a half day park with the only things I care to see being Mission Space, Soarin, and maybe eating at a resturant in world showcase. The rest of the park just kind of bores me a little bit. To me it also lacks things the other parks have. I love Magic Kingdom for having the all around best attractions, MGM becuase of TOT and all the Hollywood stuff, and AK for EE and all it's attention to detail.

so many great qualities

I don't want to simply repeat all of the accolades from the other posts, so I'll just say that I agree that EPCOT is excellent, my personal favorite and, like Darthfinkles, the place where I proposed to my wife during Illuminations, just outside the Canada pavillion where we were dining at Le Cellier (about 4 years ago now).

In my opinion, it has the best ambiance, the best mix of attractions, and is also the most relaxing. The Food & Wine Festival just really tops it all off - Party for the Senses being my favorite night of the year :slurp:

Every trip we go on we spend at least 3 full days at Epcot. I never feel rushed when I'm there, there are so many quiet places to rest/relax/people watch, I love soarin' (listening to it right now!), and I find so much about the park to be inspirational. To make a list, it would look like this:
1). Yakitori House (LOVE SUSHI!)
2). Bellini from Italy
3). SE
4). "Resting" on UoE :snore:
5). The romance of twilight inside Mexico
6). Perfume selection (France/Italy/UK)
7). The popcorn smell by AA
8). The fiber optics in the sidewalk by Innoventions
9). All the music! From SE, to Canada, to France

*Sigh...wishing I was there now!*

EPCOT is my absolute favorite, with focus on World Showcase. The variety of food, whether sit down or grab as you go, is worth the walking you need to do to get it all! The 3 s's - sights, sounds and shopping (along with snacks, sweets and souveniers- along with the science of Future World) make EPCOT less stressful than MK and more interesting to me personally than AK and MGM. As a Global History teacher I am certainly drawn to the cultural exchanges that can happen just by asking a cast member where they are from (I love the return to nametags with hometowns on them)! I never spend enough time at EPCOT when I visit (family tends to draw me to other places).
