I know there are so many members on this board that would vote Epcot as their favorite park. It's always been last on my list. I keep thinking maybe I've missed something really fantastic that would change my mind. I want to understand. Can you tell my why you love Epcot?

I LOVE Epcot. I could see how some might find it boring, but it is the most relaxed park, especially WS. You can move at your own pace. I just love the ambiance, I can really feel the difference between one country to the next. We always eat at this park as it has the most diversity. There are less kids, but still enough to do some amusing people watching. Illuminations could be THE reason in itself. For a while it was for its nostalgic feeling, but that is quickly dwindling as rides are getting updated....As I am getting older, I am finding more and more ways to appreciate it.

I love you Epcot, See you in a few days! :sohappy:

Epcot is fun to my family cause we get to travel around the world and see cultures as they are represented in world showcase. we have a good time learning about each park. Plus they have added plenty if rides that peak your imagination. and they have one of the world largest aquariums there. i was told that it can fit spaceship earth with room to spare. Thats pretty unique. If you wanted to you can also participate in a dive into the aqarium where you can see more species of fish in an hour than you would on your own diving off the coast. Epcot is a park that is for the imagination. And you need that....imagination.

It was my favorite as a teen because of World Showcase--I was a poor kid with poor parents and was quite prepared to never get to travel anywhere EVER, so this was my answer to a world tour :)

When I went back, they'd gotten more thrill rides, which was fun, but Epcot will never be about the rides, to me. Even after working there for 7 months on the CP, I NEVER got bored with it. I'd spend my days/afternoons off at the park, dining in one of the awesome restaurants (OMG, try Morocco!), enjoying a ride or two, sitting at the Fountainview waiting for the fountain "shows", or just sitting back and watching people.

I think I love it because it's hardly ever as packed & kid ravaged as MK, and there are still little hidden nooks where you can be practically alone (the waterfall in Canada, for example).

This's tougher than I thought it'd be...it's like trying to explain why you love your child: "I just do!" :p

EPCOT is my second favorite park. DAK is my first.

But before there was DAK, EPCOT was #1 from the moment I set foot on Disney property.

I am not fond of amusement parks, so on my first trip to Walt Disney World, I was afraid that it would be all coasters and tilt a whirls and nothing would be interesting. My first Disney ride was Spaceship Earth. The animatronics, the smell of rome, the entire sensory experience that they called a "ride" defined disney for me and I fell in love immediately.

When I did my college program, if I had a bad day I would go ride on spaceship earth to remind myself why I was there. To see other people experience their first disney ride for the first time is really magical.

Aside from spaceship earth, the wide open spaces are a real draw for me (all the other parks can get cramped, but EPCOT always seems to have plenty of roaming space and nice green grass to look at). The architecture is unique and not amusement park cutesy.

I'm also a museum lover so I love learning a little something while on vacation. You can always learn something at EPCOT.

You know I can understand the love for epcot, but not DAK. the last few times I have been there I have not enjoyed it very much. What is it that you love? Try to help me understand that one! Thanks

There is just something about Epcot that makes it special.

Where else can you see the worlds largest golf ball... SSE is a beautiful structure though.

The landscaping and how everything is layed out, from the walkways, flowers, trees, lights, fountains, world showcase lagoon - it is simply beautiful.

Architecture, the tower at Italy, Eifel tower at France, Mountain at Canada, Japanese pavillion - you can spend at least a few days just taking in the sights and sounds of the world showcase pavillions.

Food - Just about every place at Epcot has great food and actually serve traditional dishes from the countries. Eating out doesn't get any better than Epcot in terms of qaulity and sheer size of the choices available.

World showcase and all of the different cultures represented there. What makes it even better is that people who are actually from those countries work there - that adds to the realism of it.

Illuminations - was and still is my favorite fireworks/light/water show. It was amazing and cutting edge back in the 80's and they have kept it there ever since. An amazing ending to a magical day.

Now THAT'S a list!

edit: however, I would have to replace #10 with "Illuminations"

I love Epcot walking around the countries when they first open it's so quiet and relaxing depending on the time of year you can walk all the way around and only see a few people

Strange how the little things stick with you. Until I came across this site I thought I was the only one who had a unique fondness for the 'smell of Rome' in SSE. Another is the forced perspective of the offshore oil platform in Norway.

I can understand why some people don’t enjoy EPCOT. Especially when I was younger, I didn’t like EPCOT at all. But at some point over the past 6 or 7 years I’ve developed a strong interest in the lifestyles of different cultures. Whenever I’m walking through the World Show Case, I always talk with the cast members. I talk with them about the merchandise in the stores or ask their suggestions on what is a good thing on their menu that is a true taste of their country. They are always willing to talk with you. They like to tell you about their homeland and let you know why certain thing are important in their culture or how their little trinkets work. It always fascinates me. In many of the pavilions they will write you name in their language and maybe teach you a couple words.

The same goes for the cooling station. I love trying sodas from around the world. Some of them taste horrible, but it’s cool to know what other people’s popular drinks are. I really really like China’s watermelon Soda. If I knew where I could buy bottles of that, I would be so happy!

I'm stealing the list idea and putting our top Epcot things in.

-SSE
-the dancing fountain
-Mouse Gear, second best park shopping (main st jewelers is my no. 1)
-The Seas with NEMO!! ride
-the manatees at The Living Seas
-Living With The Land, to see how big the pumpkins are this week
-Test Track!!
-beer around the World Showcase (that's for my DH)
-Le Cellier (if we have the cash)
-British Invasion
-the Grand Marnier Orange Slush in France - cash only stand
-the Mitsukoshi department store in Japan
-the candy lady in Japan
-the Japanese Garden... in Japan
-BIERGARTEN!!!!
-the Fifers and Drummers in America
-Rosa Regale wine in Italy (get the dark chocolate with it)
-that shop in China that feels like an outdoor market
-Maelstrom in Norway
-Margaritas and Churros in Mexico

We accomplish at least half of these on every trip to Epcot. It would take more than one day to poke through all the shops in World Showcase, and it would be well worth it. I found these sick foot pads in Mitsukoshi; they're herbal detoxification pads that you put on your feet and they suck the toxins out. I'm addicted and have found a supplier online direct from Japan.

What is the cooling station and where is it. That is def. something I want to visit on my trip in sept.

Epcot is my favorite park. The first time I went to WDW it was only the Magic Kingdom in 1979 when I was 8. When I was 18 my mom asked me if I wanted to go to WDW and I said yes. The first place we went was to Epcot and I had never seen anything so amazing before and it instantly became our favorite place. We went back every year for many years till it became to hard for mom to walk. She recently had both her knees replaced and asked me again if I wanted to go to WDW and am thrilled to be going again after a 9year absence (My husband is not quite the fan as I am and my kids are far too young to go IMOP at 2 and 6 months old.) We are very sad that SSE will not be open since it is our favorite attraction, but look forward to seeing all the new things. We also love the World Showcase and eat there every night in a different country. We also love to shop so that is fun for us too. It is just a very relaxed atmosphere. I do love MK but 1 day there is enough for me and 1/2 day at the studios is plenty too. I could spend days at Epcot. I have not been to AK but also look forward to seeing it for the first time too.
