Epcot Japan Addition

It is true that the show building in Japan was specifically built for Meet the World, this is also talked about in the Epcot Center book from the 80s by Abrams.

It is sad that TDO just sees World Showcase now as a mall and nothing more. :brick: The dining and shopping is great and all, but at the same time its time for something major added to an existing pavilion or of course a brand new pavilion. Long overdue.

Ew.....how 'bout "no."
Ew...how bout "yes." Either would be great. Meet the World could have great animatronics, three dimensional projections, interactive elements....Who am I kidding, it won't happen. I do think World Showcase needs a ride, but it really ought to happen in Germany first...

Agreed...Heck, Via Napoli was long overdue and it isn't even an attraction. Things are happening as of late in the park and it gives me a bit of faith... Who knows, Brazil might actually be happening. Hopefully...

From what I've read, MtW was scratched because Japanese history cannot be imagineered away. Well, it could be, but it would be a monumental, outrageous whitewashing even by Disney standards. So they won't touch it.

I love thrills, personally, but I don't think a giant Mt. Fuji coaster would fit WS at all.

I think a bullet-train trip across Japan would be great. Stick that in the show building, please.

So they are just going to build a building for kakigori to replace the cart or will there be more Japanese style desserts in there as well?

Jimmy Thick-I loves me some kakigori.....

This is what the show building in WS Japan is built for. Similar to the Carousel of Progress except the rotating audience sits in the center of the show and looks outward.

It had music by the Shermans. It was built and had a nearly 20-year run in Japan; never built in Florida. You can find videos online.
Martin has a video of the Tokyo version with the English soundtrack on his site.

World Showcase an elaborate mall. Wow- sad but how dead on correct that is! Really, is there anything in the plans beyond cart transitions to buildings and such? I mean REAL attractions and expansion.

I don't know enough about this, but have watched Martin's video.

What is happening with this building right now? Is it completely empty, does it allow storage, or what??

Love Japanese culture, and I would like to see that building put to use in some meaningful way. I agree the ride sounded intriguing, but glossing over the war could never happen. Are they ever going to utilize that building?

Nice! Maybe this addition of more food options will help spread out the crowds a little in Japan. It always seems like poor Yakitori House is mobbed when I go.

Thats very true. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if Yakitori House undergoes a refurbishment/expansion in the near future and this new stand is the first part of this plan. No inside info, just speculation.

I love the dad in the second pic with the "why are you taking a photo of my young daughter?" look on his face. LOL.

I've seen that look. As if you can go to wdw and not get photographed...even though in 99% of the cases it's not you they want, but whatever is behind you.
I am waiting for the day when some jerk says, "why are you photographing my kid?" and I can calmly answer, with as straight a face as I can try and muster: "because she is hot!"
