Epcot Future Change of plan

Given that there is another thread by a credible poster stating GotG is being looked for ToT (again), it's hard for me to completely discount this rumor although I am very skeptical. It's not the first time we've heard something about Figment getting the boot from Epcot. I do have a hard time seeing them putting GotG in 2 parks within the same resort. They aren't even doing that with Star Wars and that is a much bigger franchise that they have complete control of.

From a very reliable source, a new version of Shanghai's Tron ride will replace Imagination and it will create a new "computer" pavilion. Insiders on here, have you heard this same information? It has not been Green lit but is very very possible. And depending on the success of Guardians of The Galaxy 2 I am told it might instead replace UoE.

This somewhat lines up with @WDW1974 and his new Spirited thread where he said GotG is back on the table for ToT at DHS and Tron is being looked at to replace UoE but it's one of many ideas being examined.

Avatar essentially took the forums by surprise and everyone wanted to know how the hell something that big had gotten past the insiders. Turns out, they didn't mention it because they thought it was too stupid to be real. I'm oversimplifying but that is the gist of it.
It's cute that at one point we thought Avatar was too stupid to be real. Now If you'll excuse me I'll be reading about Guardians of the Tower while waiting in a two hour line for Frozen in Norway.

I'll be chartering an airboat in the 'Glades - lots to do in S. Florida and not all of it has to do with theme parks.

What was the point of this post?

The point should be obvious there are many ways to have a fun vacation in the greater Orlando area without giving Disney a dime of your money and after this cluster of stupidity I think it behooves us to STOP giving Disney money, Start cancelling AP's and demand pro rated refunds and explain WHY we are doing so in WRITING preferably. Because the ONLY thing Disney understands these days is a hit to WDW's revenue.

That's impossible so please stop acting like a message board is going to start a movement. Do you realize how small a percentage you are reaching of people who go to Disney with these posts? For every person who boycotts there's two new families with children going for the first time.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Ugh! I am so sick of people telling me what to do.
I get it. You want to boycott Disney, kick them where it hurts - it the financial gonads. So do it.

But for Pete's sake, stop telling me what I must do. And please stop calling me a rube or a "part of the problem" because I continue to enjoy the parks year after year.

I would really like every post to start with ... Hi, my name is ****, and the last time I visited WDW was in 20**. Then, at least, I can determine if the poster even has a right to pontificate, let alone direct others what to do.

Don't like it, don't go; but don't tell me what I must do to forward your agenda.

While I don't believe anything can truly be done if this was to go forward, a big movement was started on this board before and it did accomplish it's goal. A certain poster could tell you how they started the outcry that nothing was going to be done to celebrate Epcot's 25th milestone. This poster started a movement that caught the attention of Disney and they put together a package for the event almost overnight.

Let me add the park seems to have quite a brighter future than at present. And it doesn't involve TRON.

The next 8 years or so could be very very interesting.

I'll post more elsewhere about the rebirth of EPCOT when I can.
I really really hope a rebirth will happen. Epcot shouldn't be an afterthought for guests hopping off the monorail at the Ticket & Transportation Center. I am hopefully for the day that Epcot will not be seen as Magic Kingdom's smarter (drunk-er?), but far less popular sister.

It's looking quite promising. In an IP kind of way of course.

I'm curious as to whether you've gotten some newer information if you're actually this optimistic. I just can't get my hopes up for an IP-centric Epcot myself. No offense.

WDW1974 seemed thoroughly unimpressed by the plans he's head for the park. Though like myself, he's also an EPCOT Center purist that hates the idea of shoehorning more IP into things where they don't belong. It's also clear that there's a degree of conflicting information going around the rumor mill, particularly the GotG attraction and where it's going.

I'd think I'm as 1982-pure as the next fan. But I've accepted EPCOT Center is dead. It won't return. Although a few proposed names may warm the heart. What's proposed should result in quite the park if all comes to fruition. And if you accept IPs - although not everywhere. It's certainly Epcot V3. And yes I have very new information.

When do you believe we will start to see some announcements? Also when do you think the first addition to Epcot will open?

I will be deliberately vague about dates. It's a long process that may not be finished for a number of years. But once started there could be noticeable changes year on year.

You may hear a hint at the next fan meet.
