EPCOT CENTRE

No....pretty sure it is one of the most broken part of the parks IMO.

Half done SSE refurb...20 year run of Ellen's lack of energy adventure...closed down WOL pavilion... half of Imagination shut down... a reheated 3D adventure from the mid 1980's...a ho-hum overlay at The Living Seas...and Innoventions East and West that seem to have lost their "worlds fair" approach to new and wonderful ways of living in the future....oh. and a great opportunity for a dining venue languishing in "special events" or, as disney likes to call it Odyssey.

You just can,t let to many things get old at th same time. When you do that you then have these massive changes that need to take place all at once. You need to make ongoing changes and replacements. That's water under the bridge now at least the changes are happening around the others parks, maybe they learn a lesson from this. I stil love Epcot. It will be fine in the end.

Epcot was my favorite park during my first visit in 1990, and I missed it during my second visit last year, so I am not sure if I want to go there during my next trip in 2016, because I don't want to be extremely disappointed-Horizons gone, Imagination a shell of its former self, Communicore now the lesser Innoventions, Maelstrom gone. If I do go, maybe just hit TT, SSE and Soarin, then back to MK. At least there will be a few things that will spark the great memories I had there 25 years ago, and maybe a bit of hope that Epcot can get close to what it once was.

Considering that it was a park that was created by slapping 2 ideas together to make one, yeah it's been broken from the start. There hasnt ever been a time it felt like there was a plan to make it really work. Still suffering from inattention and achieving an overall thematic design. Although I've grown to like it more than I used to, it's still lacking in that excitement to draw my interest/love like the other parks.

Or you could try and make new memories. Never ever go by what others say. Experience it for yourself and then decide. It's sometimes referred to as being a leader and not a follower. Go into it, not expecting to hate it. You might be surprised. Different... Yes! Not necessarily bad though. Need's work? Absolutely, but that shouldn't rule out the whole place.

Remember, two of the three things you mentioned you would go to see are part of the NEW Epcot, not the old.

Good advice, it does get hard not to get sucked into some of the negativity on here, but I will definitely find out for myself. Plus, my DW and DD have never been to Epcot, so they have no prior expectations, and I can look forward to any enjoyment they will get.

I love EPCOT. It's my favorite park. I just feel that some attractions were fine as they were, yet TDO replaced them with less popular options. Hence, fixing it til it's broke.

You should go. Great park, as I said my favorite.

Spaceship Earth - a great refurb that ran out of time and money to complete it. Screens notwithstanding.
Universe of Energy - a dated, technically challenged and disaster of show quality attraction.
Wonders - disgraceful
Mission: Space - an experience for those who can manage it. Half the attraction has a wasted ride system. And this was meant to be just a preshow.
Test Track - a guest favourite.
Imagination - slightly less of a travesty than the prior version.
Captain Eo - because there's not a replacement attraction.
Imageworks - even the current version is a shadow of its former self. And don't mention upstairs.
Soarin' - like Test Track one of very few popular attractions in the park.
Living with the Land - much needed refurb coming up. Hopefully what's broke will be fixed.
Circle of Life - a 1994 re edit and cartoon overlay of a film from 1982.
Seas with Nemo - a bare bones overlay done with a scrapped together budget.
Innoventions - far more unused space than originally used. And far smaller than Communicore was.
Odyssey - see Wonders.
Mexico - cartoon overlay
Norway - a disaster
Reflections of China - thankfully.
American Adventure - see China. But when will one of WDIs flagships get digital projection?
Impressions de France - thankfully. With much needed and welcome digital projection. Reshoot 25% and it'll be up to date again. See what was done to China.
O'Canada - a limited upgrade of the original that's potentially aging fast
Reflections of Earth - a show being upgraded thanks to the passion and perseverance of the people who actually work on it.

What is broken in the ride? Would this be a long refurb and will it be in 2016?

I still love this park but I think back to how great it was compared to today and it's such a shame seeing what has happened to it over the years. There is some good but I still miss Horizons and the feel of the park when that was around. I hope one day it gets a budget to help get it back in shape but I hope that doesn't mean it totally loses the original vision of the park as that seems to already be happening. I know things need changed and updated so it's not a museum but doing things low budget and waiting to fix things until they are on their death bed isn't the Disney I remember from years ago. As it is somewhat exciting to hear about everything planned for the studios I wish part of that went into helping part of Epcot instead.

Excellent summation. I can only hope that TDO is monitoring this thread and takes heed. It seems that the farther away from the original designers we get, the more astray this park goes. It was pure magic when it opened; now it just seems kind of tired and forgotten. Still love it, but it makes me kind of sad to see what has happened to it. So many promises at opening for what the future held for the park, and so many dreams dashed. When they make the attendance numbers with or without doing any updating, what is the incentive to keep it updated? A cynical point of view, but it seems to be true.
