EPCOT Center T-shirts are back!

I don't recall anyone going crazy over the retro merchandise that was available at MouseGear in 2002-2003. Old logos, pavilion symbols galore. Maybe no one saw it. What has everyone so excited this time?

I know I bought it when I saw it, only wore the shirt a few times though. The lettering was wearing out from being in the washer.

I don't know, I think a lot of people bought that stuff too.

But now I think some of us WDW fans are just starving for ANYTHING that is marketed towards us. Your casual WDW fan is not going to buy this stuff, it's there for US. And you really can't say that very much when talking about the parks anymore.
I actually felt this way when I visited in 2002 for the first time in years. I was hungry for merchandise with the old pavilon symbols. I had no idea they had been done away with. Most CM's didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked about them. So when I found the one tiny pocket of retro merchandise I bought it all up (except the denim jacket w/ Epcot Center logo) and felt like I was the only one in all of WDW to realize what treasure this was. Glad to know I'm not alone.

All the Disney shirts do that...it's an excuse to visit a lot. It's also a good thing that the shirts are still relatively cheap.

I bought a couple of the retro shirts that came out a few years ago - the grey short-sleeved one with the pavilions and little circles, and the navy blue long-sleved where the pavilions run down the sleeve. I can't even remember what else was sold at that time. I'm kicking myself for not buying more - or a larger size (the long sleeve one is just a smidge too small now :( ).

The retro stuff has been MIA for so long that I think everyone is just glad to see it back!

You kinda want that "faded" look with this stuff! :D
No, that shirt came apart. After one wash, mine became unwearable. This new one looks much stronger though!
And I'm now hitting myself in the head for missing this. I was in Mousegear this very day, and didn't notice it.
:dazzle: :hammer:
But after so long, it would never come upon me, "Hey, look for an old Epcot shirt. They may have one!" after so many times there wasn't such a thing.

Ironicly, that's exactly what I was looking for in Mousegear. I wanted a nice "Epcot" shirt to wear to DL (gotta represent) and have been searching each time I visit in the last few weeks.

merf, since you frequent Epcot on a weekly basis, if you see this t-shirt in MouseGear in the near future, can you take note of the sku # so i can mail order one and not have to depend on my co-worker that is visiting. THANKS.

here is the reference to which t-shirt. http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showpost.php?p=2116812&postcount=50

Just order the black EPCOT Center (400199800717) one from Mail Order (407-363-6200). The CM said the computer description of the shirt is "EPCOT repeats." Should have it in 15 business days or less.

How much does it cost to order these by mail order? I'm debating on getting it now or waiting to find out if I'm actually heading down there in a month or so. What's the total cost to order it by mail order vs just buying it there?

The EPCOT Center shirt was $20 + $9.95 for shipping.

Yeah those old grey ones actually seemed to be true retro shirts, as in made many years ago. The material was much thicker that any of Disney's current shirts and the logo and symbols were all slightly raised, the way images on t-shirts used to be many years ago. The trick is to wash them inside out and don't put them in the dryer, then the graphics are less likely to wear. My shirt has survived many washings and is still looking great 4-5 years later. No shrinkage either. Unheard of in a Disney shirt.

Do you have any pictures of it? I don't recall seeing them (in parks or now on Ebay)
