EPCOT aquarium question...

Ok, so when I first went to disney in 99 (I believe that was the year) I remember going into the aquarium, and going into a type of automated cart that brought you through the aquarium itself. Am I just going crazy and imagining this, or was this real, and replaced by the nemo shell carts? If I'm right on this one, then I'm sort of disappointed since I'm not a big fan of the nemo ride (hence I go in the gift shop exit).

Yep you used to go onboard the Sea Cabs to transport you into the main area of the Living Seas. The Sea Cabs were then re-themed to the Clam Mobiles for Nemo. The track is the same.

Yes, it was there, real, and has been replaced by "The Seas with Nemo and Friends". Although I love Nemo, I too miss the real Living Seas, Hydrolators, Seabase Alpha, etc. Unfortunately you cant have the classic attractions and new ones at the same time.

This is true enough (especially since I've been going on how they should get rid of the indy cars). I guess they changed it so EPCOT didn't seem as much like a class trip, especially for younger kids. Though, I do like the seagulls they put in front of the entrance for it. Well, at least I know it was there.

Personally, I miss "Lost EPCOT" which I guess is kinda like a class trip. But thats what EPCOT was supposed to be all about, tehcnology, science, education, and the future. I wish people cared more about these things but I guess since it doesnt sell, TDO has to do what it has to and replace old and boring (To This Generation), with new and exciting. I hate when old or classic rides and attractions leave us, but I understand that times are so much different these days and what was attractive back then is no longer even a little bit entertaining. That being said, I just wish they would keep the educational, yet entertaining and fun aspect to EPCOT. One of WEDs great qualities was his commitment to the futre.

If I may, the track is now longer. You load roughly where the hydrolators used to be. The old load is now backstage within the centre of the extended ride track.

Martin, were the "Original Theatres 1 and 2" (G and H) both for the film "It rained, and rained ... the deluge" ? I don't really remember if it had two theaters for that, since the last time that I was in the "original version" they had an "opt out" to go directly to the hydrolators.

Yup, there were originally two theaters for "The Sea." Part of one was used as the movie/hydrolator bypass in later years.

I do miss the whole sea base alpha and sea cabs... I have lots of great memories from when I was a kid as I am a real fish nut. The scientific part was what did it for me. Taking the hydralators to see base alpha and feeling like I was that scientist exploring the ocean was something I really looked forward to as a kid.

That said, I do think they did a nice job with the Nemo overlay. Its not just a cheap overlay and my kids LOVE it now more than before.

What I really love about the current Seas is that Disney too basically a mode of getting from poit A to point B in to a really really nice attraction.
The Sea Cabs was really nothing much compared to what there is now.

There sure is. Still one of the biggest in the world. You can`t miss it :D
Yep. A lot of people just head straight to the gift shop or Turtle Talk after the ride and don't bother to head upstairs, and by doing that they miss the coolest part of SeaBase, - the underwater 360 degree observation level.

Also, contrary to what some might say, there are still thousands of fish in there. If you ever see the tank during the posted feeding times, all the fish come out and you see how much are really in there.
