Discoveryland could also be a reference to renaming Tomorrowland in MK to match it's international counterparts. At DLP that's what it's called.

I hope that Gemini gets the go! I suppose once the economy starts up again they'll get back to this.

I can't wait to see what the new Discoveryland will look like. I would have rather seen a name like "Discovery World" rather than Discoveryland, though. It does kinda sound like an addition to the MK ratehr than Epcot. The "land" makes it seem kinda small. The "lands" of MK are all themed really well, but within a much smaller space than Future World. The "World" would make more sence to me seeing the amount of space it occupies, ya know?

Of course, I'm just saying what I would have done if I were working on it. The name really doesn't matter to me :)

You need to remember when posting that what you may feel is a crappy ride, others may not.

ITS NOT GREAT

ITS HORRIBLE!!!!

I agree with you to some extent. But you do have to look at it from Disney's standpoint. The fact of the matter is EPCOT is not appealing to teens, and even so most family's don't like to travel there that much anymore. EPCOT is in bad shape economically and Disney does need to do something to get their attendance up, and I think Gemini might just do it.

And who ever said that Global Villiage would replace the world showcase? My guess is it's either to replace Millenium Village (thats what its called right?) or the Global Neighborhood.

I don't think its fair to say that Epcot doesn't appeal to teens. Epcot might not appeal to all teens, but it does in fact appeal to some teens, just like AK doesn't appeal to all adults but it does appeal to some adults. On our most recent visit we brought along our oldest nephew (14) who had never been to WDW before. Epcot was his favorite park and then MGM.

by the way I hate the name Global Village

Ok let me rephrase myself. The majority of teens don't like EPCOT. However, I (a teen myself) love EPCOT. I ment to say It just really doesn't appeal to the vast majority of teens. I know a couple teens who love it besides myself, but i did see somewhere in these forums that there was a poll for teens somewhere and the majority didn't really want to go back to EPCOT. Sorry about that. :)

Isn't the Global Village the thing at the Olympics? No... that's Olympic Village...

Anyway, I am 100% sure Global Village will be the new name/concept of Global Neighborhood at SSE. Reason and logic just say that, considering SSE itself is being altered.

Give it a chance

I find it amazing that all the Epcot lovers knows it will stink before they even know what it's like!!! It could be good but you won't give it a chance. They NEED to make a change because it's empty and they need to make it come alive again.! I loved the Old Epcot but it changed and it needs to change more. You can't stagnate a park forever!! Give it a try. Don't put it down before you know for sure! I know people feel attached to some attractions (including myself) but you have to stop trying to keep everything the same and go with changes. Just Give it a Try First!!! With the way things are, I'm sure it won't happen for quite sometime. So enjoy it while it's still there and ride it thousands of times so you get tired of it and then you can except the changes........lol......only kidding.

Oh and heres something to ponder. Wasn't Walts originial idea for EPCOT a constantly changing community? So wouldn't this technically be living up to his idea? Think about it.

Hey goofyfan, sorry I just have to play devil's advocate sometimes ( remark about teens not liking Epcot).

Now with that said
I don't mind changes..its just that as soon as I hear the name "Global Village" I immediately think of "Village People"....not what I want to think about at WDW (or anywhere else for that matter!) I just think these people, who have helped to create the most magical place on earth, could come up with a better name!

Thats quite alright, I kinda mis-phrased it anyway. :) I too am not a big fan of the name global villiage, but because ATT&T yanked it's sponsership Disney is probobly (my guess at least) going to change the name of their post show to SE. I would much rather it stay as the Global Neighborhood. Well, you know what, I'm not going to get caught up in complaining about new names until it happens, because look at what happened to BK and the Excavator....

i love the old epcot. it was my favourite park when i was little (yea, i was an odd child). i think changing the names to discoveryland and global village just takes away something. i think they should add some new countries to world showcase, not change it's name. and future world could use some new rides, but DON'T replace spaceship earth! i went on it about 10 times in february (ok, ok, this is partly because i love to hear jeremy irons's voice, but it really is a great ride). i think they should do something with the universe of energy. i like it, but i wouldn't be terribly upset if it was gone. and i don't like the body wars pavillion. and bring back horizons! (horizons was my favourite disney ride from my first visit until it closed.) and i used to get into this lounge area in horizons as well. for some reason my dad's business got invited to have a membership there or something. i miss that. they had this awesome tangerine candy.

i'm not sure now how this was relevent to the rest of the thread. oh well. :lookaroun :)
