To which you're probably right. Look, I love EPCOT Center, I was there three weeks after it opened, and it's my first theme park memory of any substance. I recall that trip to this day very vividly. As an eight year old (I'm dating myself), I was in complete awe. I can recall walking through the turnstiles, and hearing the entrance plaza music like it was yesterday. Getting confused, since we weren't sure where to enter SSE, heading left through Communicore East, because I HAD to see dinosaurs in UofE. I needed to ride WofM over and over, just to see the model of the futuristic city. I remember being slightly bored at Imagination, as Imageworks was the only thing open (what a change a year made!). I loved Kitchen Kabaret, and to this day I can still taste the key lime pie from Farmers Market. We like it so much my Mom sent a letter to Disney requesting the recipe (they obliged). It's weird to recall that Horizons and The Living Seas were barren ground. I also remember World Showcase being a bit over my head. I didn't grasp it. I did, however, love buying Matchbox cars in the UK pavilion.
EPCOT of the past is gone. It's fun to remember it, but to cling to it....well that's scary. I mean really, do we need a ride with Dreamfinder? Can't we move on? I look forward to what I hope is a renaissance for the park. I think it's coming, it's just going to take time. There are creative people, it just takes time. Who knows what new Horizon could be coming.
