Epcot 25 work?

That castle-cake thing was the worst! Does anyone know how long it was up for??

They announced the 50th stuff at DL on 5/5/04. Most of the major things don't go public till a year before.

Yes, this is what I was talking about (guess I should have said HHOE instead of HCOE). Either way, 99% of the events for Disneyland (ie, the park that was actually celebrating the birthday) were announced a year before (and this celebration is pulling in huge numbers).

The 25th had nothing new for the most part...a castle cake, a new Illuminations (which was changed very quickly), the west side of Downtown Disney, and the Wide World of Sports.

Are you kidding? Let's look at some of new things in 1996/97.....

• Boardwalk
• Wide World of Sports
• Disney Institute
• Toontown Refurb (Minnie's house, Donald's Boat, Goofy's Barnstormer all added)
• A lot of entertainment added in Epcot
• Backlot Tour Reopened
• Tower of Terror Drop sequence changes
• Hunchback Musical Premiers at the Studios
• Tram Tour changes
• California Grill opens
• Fantasia Miniature Golf Opens
• Ellen's Energy Adventure Debuts
• World of Disney opens
• Cake Castle
• Illuminations25
• New Parades
• Goosebumps
• Blizzard Beach additions
• One Saturday Morning premiers

So nothing major happened for the 25th? Unless you count two major attractions, a complete redo of a whole land (with multiple added attractions), a whole bunch of major refurbishments, a new ToT drop sequence, golf, fireworks, parades & hotels as "nothing"......

That was 11/2 years TOO long!!!!

I didn't even go to WDW during that time... had to go to DL instead. :hurl:

I heard that for the 25th anniversary of EPCOT the wand will come down...:sohappy:
and

taking it's place the "magical hand" will hold one big candle and the stars on top of SSE will be 24 little candles.....:lookaroun

My bet is on the "Blue Sky" codenamed project that was declined from Project Gemini. This project, from what I know for sure is that it will take the place of Universe of Energy and Wonders of Life to be one big pavilion/attraction.

I like that idea. But, sadly I don't think it is likely. It just seems like something, that would take years to plan. However, maybe this is where 'Time Racers' will be placed? Thoughts?

I would be more than happy to see a small museum in Millenium building dedicated to EPCOT's past and future.

Test Track was due open, but delayed until 1999.

Regardless, the MK had OVER 17 million visitors that year....an all-time high.

The parks needed nothing new...the economy was in full swing, and the parks had been majorly expanded from 1991-1995....so it was a "sit back and take advantage of what we did the last few years" celebration. The Remeber The Magic theme was a tagline to tug on peoples heartstrings and get them to the MK...people got pins with the year of their first visit....

The 20th, on the otherhand, was during the early 90's recession, and the "Surpise Celebration" focused on 20 new attractions at WDW. It was before the "Disney Decade" but took advantage of the phase 2 (capacity improvements) at MGM

You may remember the commercials.....they went something like this
