That's been the case for 5 years. Epcot is the 2nd worst Disney park in the world right now.

Even in its severely diminished state, I still think it's better than Hollywood Studios. I could still spend basically a full day at EPCOT, whereas Hollywood Studios doesn't have more than a half day worth of stuff even with all the additions, barring waiting in long lines for some rides (at least one of which I personally wouldn't even ride as a walk-on).

I realize that's a minority view, of course.

You're allowed to have that opinion, but the attraction lineup isn't there for EPCOT right now. Add in the removal of Illuminations and its current state of disrepair and it can't compete with any of the other parks for me.

Yes, EPCOT has a wider variety of restaurants but speaking personally, I would rather eat at Yak & Yeti than any EPCOT restaurant and I think Brown Derby holds up against them all as well. There is also better dining at Disney Springs currently.

EPCOT needs help and Guardians has to be a home run. It needs to be a solid #2 to Rise of the Resistance for attraction quality. DHS and DAK (and MK for that matter) on the other hand need capacity. EPCOT has that in spades.

EPCOT needs GotG:CR to be it's RotR or FoP. A ride that no one wants to miss on their trip to WDW. MK is fine without a ride like that (Tron isn't on the same level) because it is already too packed and no one skips it.

For me, it's more that just walking around the World Showcase, even with a lack of attractions, is more interesting than almost everything in Hollywood Studios other than a couple of rides. I would also rather ride/walk around in the combination of Spaceship Earth, the Seas, and Living With the Land/Soarin' than do most of Hollywood Studios. I was really disappointed in Galaxy's Edge as a land (a lot of empty space and upcharge experiences), and Smuggler's Run didn't do much for me. Toy Story Land is an outright disaster with one decent but not special ride (SDD) and two I wouldn't ride as walk-ons (TSM and the Saucers). Tower of Terror is tremendous, of course, but that's essentially it for things that interest me at DHS other than some of the old LA/Hollywood theming. The Indiana Jones Stunt Show used to be great, but since it's been basically unchanged for 30 years, there's not much reason to go see it yet again.

I have not been on Rise or MMRR and I think they both look excellent, although MMRR doesn't look quite as good as GMR. I'm sure they will bump up my appreciation for DHS, but I don't think i's nearly enough to make me want to spend more than a half day there. I can also admit that my nostalgia for the former EPCOT that was far and away the best park in the world tinges my view a bit, although that cuts both ways because it also makes me mad to be there and remember everything that's now missing.

The #1 reason I go to Studios now is for citizens of Hollywood (and equity Ben & Lisa when they are doing frozen). I loved the old studios with great movie ride, backlot tour, animation, etc.

Obviously I like Rise, and slinky dog is fun but the park feels like it has shrunk somehow. Probably just the extra crowds for Galaxies edge.

OK - so park hours say EPCOT opens at 11am. I got there at 1030 on Wednesday and they were letting people in already. Anyone know what time the park TRULY opens?

I don't think that the people saying "Disney needs to open up more capacity to the locals" or "Disney needs to allow hopping again" are correct.

Disney is still taking lumps for even being open. They are one bad viral picture or video away from another round of absolutely brutal PR and possibly closing up again. I don't even know if they're making money on this right now, but they are at least positioned to be able to increase capacity some time OTHER than when the governor is being brutalized every day for his handling of the pandemic. I think they are and should be happy with status quo and positioning themselves to quickly be able to take advantage of some good news on this, hopefully in the near future.

11.

It's not unusual to open the parks to let guests enter before the actual posted time, even pre-covid. It's even more prudent now so there's not a large crowd waiting at the front. 30-45 mins before open is usually when you see them to start letting people enter, but attractions themselves won't be operating until 11.

This wouldn't be an increase in capacity. I recognize it was a Monday night but the Epcot crowds last night were brutal. They probably weren't even at 30% of their new capacity for the last 4 hours.
