Some pretty rocks does not make it good expansion, it helps to create a great visual land - so far they are looking for quotes on to build a D and a C ticket attraction a restaurant, shops and restrooms. Where is the headliner attraction - the one that drives attendance?
a link provided shows an E and C ticket with the possibility of a D, check the other "cameron gives the ok" thread :)

Say, you don't like Avatar? And you're not planning on experiencing any attractions that are created based on Avatar?

It's almost like you haven't posted this same exact thing well over 100 times in every thread concerning Avatar. Stop the presses, boys, MP doesn't like Avatar!

He says it in every thread where anyone offers the faintest praise for something that was bought by Disney (no matter how cool) rather than created by them. Down with Star Tours, Muppets, Indiana Jones ect says the panther...and always, the response from the collective is "We don't care"...

Anywho... I've never heard of this guy before but his list of projects is pretty darn impressive. Between him and Cameron, I am sure the land will look very pretty and expect the scenery to be amazing. Let's hope the attractions match the prettiness

No I don't think so. He was actually recruited in September, it just took me this long to find out about it. I don't think it has been reported anywhere else before today, so I don't see this as being related.

I find the timing odd myself ... but I do know how strange things can also be the real deal. I hadn't heard of the hiring, but I'm not overly sure I would have anyway.

But either way, I'm sure Disney is thrilled at all the Pandora chatter we're doing here on multiple threads.

I dislike the sentiment that sometimes persists around here that you have to either be for or against Avatarland, love what they are proposing or hate it. I think it will be good to have a new area to explore, even if its not the optimal addition we would have liked.

The only thing I find odder than the "love it/hate it" sentiment expressed regarding Avatar is the sheer number of posters who claim to have never seen the film. Really? You've never seen the highest grossing movie of all time? Just how heavy is that mountain of plush you've been living under?

What is odd, and why their arguments soon lose merit, is when they claim they never saw the movie and yet HATE it with a passion...

Don't kind yourself, Magenta will pop in there the day it opens (or on the first visit once it opens), will rave about it to friends and family, then come on here and play that tired old character, just to keep the online rep going, which, you know, is important to some....

Yeah, you know me so well.

I have a "rep"? I had no idea! :D

Whoa, dude. Lighten up. Maybe the sight of the blue kitties in the movie's trailer struck some people as looking pretty lame. Maybe some people don't worship the ground James Cameron walks on. Chill.

I've never seen the movie, have no interest too, but i am excited for a new land at AK. I just hope they make actual attractions, and no meet and greets with creepy blue people.

I don't get out to the movies much anymore with 2 little ones at home. If we get a night out for adult time you better believe I am heading somewhere where I can utter the phrase "what do you have on tap?". Needless to say, I missed it in the theater. Only saw it at home on HBO after I crawled out from under my mountain of plush.:) Probably better in 3D in the theater. Despite thinking the movie was pretty average, I think it can make for a great theme park land if done right. I look forward to seeing the art (12/7?)

yup. Haven't seen it. Just looks boring. Of course, I don't see most blockbuster type movies, so it's nothing new. Not a huge fan of Cameron, either. I am sure it will all be pretty, all the promos look lovely, but meh. I do wish they had put it in DHS, though...mostly because I like ak calm and serene like it is. I am afraid of the crowds! :D
I don't know enough to hate it, and I am glad new things are coming to wdw, but I would have a whole giAnt roster of things to fix or add before I would go the blockbuster film route. But, I also realize I am not who they are trying to attract, and not everything has to appeal to me personally to make it good for them.:p

In before someone claims avatar land is just to spread out the crowds.
As in the crowds in AK, which are not there since the park is really spread out, or like take some congestion away from MK? But i don’t think thats the way it works, usually people who take a vacation to Disney go to all the parks, its just more an incentive to come if they have something new in one of the parks. But I'm sure the day to day guests and locals and pass holders etc. will make a slight surge to AK when this land opens.

Well, if it's an added draw to DAK, it certainly could cannibalize attendance from other parks. A lot people who vacation at WDW say they don't go to DAK on a trip or only go for 1/2 or 1 day. So, if those people start going 1-2 days to DAK regularly, it will help to thin the crowds at other parks.

Assuming the new additions don't increase the number of people total going to WDW.
