Pity his talent isn't being invested in something interesting and original, like Beastly Kingdom. TDO has wimped out again. Well, for me, this is yet one more reason to ignore AK. No amount of broken yetis and Smurfy kitty cats will entice me there again.

Say, you don't like Avatar? And you're not planning on experiencing any attractions that are created based on Avatar?

It's almost like you haven't posted this same exact thing well over 100 times in every thread concerning Avatar. Stop the presses, boys, MP doesn't like Avatar!

I'm sure he'll do rock-solid work.

But...more rocks....!? I'm getting claustrophobic from all that rockwork everywhere. There are a million ways to disguise showbuildings, and a million ways to create immersive worlds, that don't involve rockwork.

Dinosaur's / Indy's showbuilding are huge, but at DAK, TDS and DL they hide them behind a jungle exterior. If you don't need to hide a showbuilding, but need volume to create a world, take a look at the MK - entire Bavarian villages and colonial American towns are erected to create an immersive world, instead of boring rocks rocks rocks.

This is very good news! From what we are hearing leak by leak the ride system is being described as Soarin meets HP! i have no clue how they are going to hide this building though

Wait a second, I thought the "insiders" said Avatar was dead? They all just about "confirmed" it.

You mean to tell me the "insiders" were all wrong?

Jimmy Thick- Like I always say, unless you hear it from Steve, its just people trying to bring attention to themselves.
Complete and utter lie, they've never said it was canceled. Lee has been saying since the beginning that Avatar was troubled, a complete and utter truth until right this exact time, corroborated by pretty much everyone with connections within the Disney company (Disney have to have SOMETHING to counter Universal, they're desperate). No one ever said it was canceled. And as it stands, '74 was the one that actually first broke the news here about Avatar actually getting back on track.

Long term development plans can and almost always do change at least somewhat from intended plans. Insiders only put out what the current intention of the Disney company is. Intentions are in constant state of flux. Plans can and do change daily. Even Disney never 100% accurately predicts what their own company will and will not end up doing (in the long term). They have changed their ideas countless times, even with the things they're upfront to customers about. Intended expansions and theme parks have been completely scrapped or immensely changed, even when they've announced these things officially to the public and released art of what would come to be. Westcot, never built Epcot pavilions and rides, Beastly Kingdom (among other AK plans), and Western River Expedition are perfect examples. Fantasyland Expansion is another prime example, official intended plans have changed over countless times, such as changing the Chateau into the Mine Coaster. Plans are in such a state of flux that they can even change during construction (like the never completed descent of 2007 Spaceship Earth refurb). The insiders don't exist to tell you what will happen, only a current intention of the company. And they have never claimed to be anything other than that.

No I don't think so. He was actually recruited in September, it just took me this long to find out about it. I don't think it has been reported anywhere else before today, so I don't see this as being related.

Steve, was he specifically recruited to work on the Avatar project, or could he be coming over to work on the rumored CL project at DHS?

I think this is great news. If you are interested in just the rides than you can go to busch gardens or six flags, but I enjoy all the theming that goes along with the rides and think it makes the experience that much better.

I specifically asked him about why they were going to show concept art at "Whats Next" if the project was dead. He corrected me and said exactly that....
It isn't dead. Never has been.
Just very...troubled.
Apparently, it s no longer as troubled

The only "real" rockwork in Avatar are the cliffs and the floating mountains.

If Disney can somehow make mountains float in Avatarland, I'd bet even Magenta Panther would pay to see it.
Don't kind yourself, Magenta will pop in there the day it opens (or on the first visit once it opens), will rave about it to friends and family, then come on here and play that tired old character, just to keep the online rep going, which, you know, is important to some....
