"let 'em drive 90, it's no skin off my nose..." Until they wreck 5 miles down I-75, bringing both sides to a standstill
"let 'em cheat on their taxes, more power to them..." Until your taxes are increased to make up for their tax evasion
...
"let 'em march into Czechoslovakia, we don't live there..." Until you get drafted to invade Europe and free the Sudetenland
But we do let them drive 5-10 mph over the limit.

This isn’t jumping over the fence to get on the Carousel. This is asking to be let into a cue at the 1 minute mark when there is still going to be another cycle.

- I get not wanting to let him ride just because of the attitude. I’ve been there.

You can see this situation from both points of view. The point is there are rules and the rules should be followed.
The father saying he could not find the entrance is lame. Then talking to his son, saying you want to ride don't you
is also lame. The cast member saying you don't want me working late also lame. The rules are the ride was closed
at park closing. They let those in line at that time ride. If the cast member lets another rider on at 1 minute past,
how would you explain not letting someone in at 2 minutes past, and 3 minutes past. The rules were being followed.
Sometimes you don't get to ride, no matter how much you whine and stamp your feet.

Yeah, the dude was being a manbaby. However, it’s clear that the CMs weren’t playing nice either. Completely disregarding the companies code for how a CM should be “Onstage”. Both of these women broke character, the first lady did when she kept telling the guy “Well, how am I suppose to get home?!” Reminding me of this one redneck man that I once worked with... he would lose his cool over silly sh**, all for the sake of wanting to get home to crack open a couple beers and watch reality shows. The second lady completely lost character when she lost her temper, that’s no bueno.

Could they have just let the kid sneak in and let him get a slice of that Disney magic that’s so heavily advertised day in and day out? Yes. Was the man wrong for acting out like a child? Yes. Yet, the cast members were more concerned about going home (probably to crack open a couple beers too) while the father was just looking out for his son. Sure, he could have done it differently but its rather obvious that he was desperate and what’s the one thing any modern customer does in a time of desperation? Pull out their phones to one up the employee! These Prince Charming Regal Carrousel Gals lost their jobs.

He was desperate? Must be a new definition of the word. I suppose he could have been desperate to get his own way, but that's not usually what's meant by desperation.

Desperate to get his kid on the ride? By calling out the CMs and attempting to guilt trip them for the reasons mentioned in the clip.

When I was trained by Disney they said “the customer is not always right. But we allow them to be wrong with dignity”

I’d still just let him into the cue. Not worth a fuss over. It’s like people cutting in line at Disney world, sure it’s unfair but starting a fight with them isn’t going to help anything, easier to just let them go and wait all of 30 more seconds.

Except.. give them an inch and they take a foot.

We all know this interaction isn't the exception for this dude...

Normal adults do not experience desperation because they can't get their kid on a ride.
... and I... agree with you! Although, I do think you’ve been out of the loop regarding how some adults with social media use the platform. It doesn’t matter if they’re at Disney or Target, if they feel wronged in any way they’ll seek out an employee to harass and go as far as recording the interaction in order to gain something. Which is exactly what the man in the video is trying to do. It’s a cheap and desperate tactic that every Karen and Man-Karen out there executes when they feel like it’s something worthy beneficial for them.

I don’t necessarily understand how you went from trying to correct me on how to use desperation as a word to telling me “normal adults don’t experience desperation because they can't get their kid on a ride” in which I wholeheartedly agree with you on but if you look back at the video, you will see what I’m talking about.

What a sad excuse of a parent. He ruined his child's day, not the cm.
CM's are not obligated to reopen a line for you. Who knows if the cm's already let a child in the day before? These situations can only be handled by day, & this specific rainy day the cm's wanted to close the queue on time.

You know what's funny, how come no one records or give thanks at City Hall when a CM does do something nice, like reopen a line? The second someone pulls out their phone like him I can tell his intentions are bad. I'm sure he was bothering those poor cm's long before the video. I just wish they didn't respond to him, a no is enough & they didn't need to explain themselves.

I relocated to TN in 2013. Was driving around looking for a rental and pulled into a subdivision and people I'd never met were just waving at me. I'm thinking "*** is this stepford ****?" After a bit it grew on me, saying hi and waving to people. Was visiting MA one year and said good morning to some rando as I was walking into a grocery store. He scowled "You talking to me?" I put my head down and scurried on my way as I'd clearly forgotten where I was. lol

@Tom Morrow has expressed my sentiment perfectly throughout this thread, but I will still add my thoughts.

I agree entirely that this man should suffer job loss. If this had happened without our knowledge, I would think otherwise. But this man took the time to whip out his phone and film a CM in hopes of intimidation and a possible desire of the CM losing her job via viral tactics. The service industry is filled with this nonsense and, as Tom Morrow has stated, it should stop.

Rewarding abuse isn’t the answer.

And if you’re at Disney World right now, you are entirely in choice in all you do. A pandemic still rages on and you decide to harass a CM, whose community is currently breaking, all for what?

So, yes, cancel this guest and let him suffer the consequences.

I have been thinking about both sides of this. At first I thought that it is extreme to want this idiot to loose his job over this. But then I thought back to the 30+ years of experience working with the public and I got more and more angry about it. People treat those in service like pieces of poop. Over the years I have seen many times customers being rude, aggressive, intimidating, and also just out right lie about an employee in hopes of getting them fired. These people have ZERO concern for the person that they are trying to get fired and will out right say that they hope they do loose their job. And sadly, many people do lose their jobs because the bosses take the easy way out to keep the customer happy. There needs to be consequences for this type of behavior. Especially now in the age where you are putting someone's face and identity online for the whole world to see and that can cause them serious issues. There are too many nut jobs out there. I hope this guy does have personal consequences for his actions.

We only see this from when he starts recording. Maybe he was a jerk from the start or maybe the CM was jerky from the start. Regardless, him posting a video over something like this is the biggest jerk move. It's a merry go round, get over it. Go to guest services on your way out if it bothers you so much, but people need to stop with posting videos of things as trivial as this. Makes everyone look bad, especially the guy filming and posting it.

Imagine what their home life will be like when dad loses his job to a internet mob who bullied his employer into firing him.
Maybe if he didn't record himself visibly being an a-hole and post it online, he wouldn't have to worry about any repercussions. Any fallout from this is strictly on him, and no one else. This mentality nowadays of posting your life on the Internet for all to see can come back and bite you.

The funny thing is, you have to figure, since he took the time to record the incident and post it, he figured he was in the right.
It would be interesting to know how he feels about it now. I would imagine the responses on Facebook or wherever are probably
pretty similar to the comments I have seen here.

AAAAaaannd by posting this you are helping monetize this despicable behavior. Social media rewards bad behavior with cold hard cash.

On Edit: Ok, maybe not so much on Facebook.
