Flight tomorrow on Delta, 12:55p departure...early because I need to be at MCO before the kiddo is.
Her mom (no surprise) did not send me the MEID for the kiddos cell phone, so I can't activate it, which was part of the plan so the kiddo would have voice and data throughout her solo flight...Anyhow, I'll bug her Mom for it in the morning...again...
But, current situation, and bad luck...I need to do my job (I have a server issue) and go to the datacenter in the middle of the night (wow, fun...) or I can wait for remote hands to do it tomorrow.
For those not familiar with the term, "remote hands" means someone in the Datacenter who you grant access to the rack, generally someone in the NOC (Network Operations Center)...this is a datacenter.
This is a rack.
The issue is, as this is third party "remote hands", this means that they won't do much outside of push buttons for me...and I'd like to know what is causing the issue (meaning, I'd like a bit more than a robot doing what I ask, I want some feedback)...
I'd prefer they connect up a crash cart and see what the server is reporting...frankly...before I ask them to hard boot (turn the power off and on again) the machine.
This is a crash cart...
And no, no one in a datacenter dresses that way...and if they did, I'd probably laugh at them behind their back...but the crash cart image is accurate. The dude in the background on the ladder running cable is more accurate.
This, isn't something I wish to deal with while I'm sitting here waiting on my laundry to finish so I can seal up my carry on for tomorrow's flight...I'd really rather sleep in until about 10a or so, and then head down to the airport, but no go, it seems...I'll be up all night.
Should make Friday night interesting...as I'll be sleepy, but the kiddo will be rested. Bet, if we go bowling, which I suspect she will want to do, she'll beat me! I'll be so sleepy I'll need the baby bumpers inflated!
