I am one of the few who actually like the new show. Personally i would not like the old show to come back but a newer one.

Same here.

I too agree that the New Management should stay or let an all-new show get installed.

Let the original remain a DL-exclusive.

Besides, a lot of you folks don't like clones anyway. :hammer:

Bring in more guests and more $$$!

1. Sponsored by Dole

2. Move Dole stand outside of show like DL

3. Allow Dole Whips in the show. It is a LONG shoe and tons of guests would love a nice cool refreshing treat while enjoying the show.

4. Bring on the DL show w/ or w/o Stitch.

Bringing Dole in to make the show a snack break experience would turn it into a money making attraction instead of another operating expense. Great step in the right direction.

Nice! Definitely a few good ideas!

Wonder if Dole WOULD be interested in sponsoring...always wondered why they didnt to begin with.

I too prefer the original incarnation of the Tiki Room, but I think we are stuck with this awful version for some time to come. People have been complaining about this show for the last 10 years and nothing has changed. WDW obviously has bigger plans with their $$ in the next few years (FLE...)...

I completely agree that the original version of the Tiki Room should be re-instated. I don't really want to have to go to Californian just to hear the birdies singing the Tiki song.

What we want, and what Disney wants are two separate things however...so maybe we'll see it revert, but then again, maybe not.

Ive read the script of the new Stitch Tokyo show...trust me it isnt very good lol

Reading a script and seeing a show are two very different things... And the different cultures effect how shows are scripted as well.

I've seen the show in person, and at no point thought "oh brother " (like in SGE)... I doubt understanding the dialouge would change that much. It was a cute show that seemed to be in the spirit of the original Tiki Room, which to me is what should be important. UNM is entirely NOT in the spirit of the original tiki room. All the conflict, the attacking, the put downs... It doesn't fit.

Bring Stitch into the show half way through, play hawaiian roller coaster and an Elvis hawaiian tune, then reprise the tiki room with him and you have a winner of a show.

Trust me. This isn't a nostalgia thing. The old show is very good. We watched it a number of times on our visit to DLR. I agree that moving the Dole Whip stand towards the entrance (there's already a place for it) would help emmensely.

My siestas are getting chorter an chorter!

!

Fully agree... perhaps even bring a version of the Brker Bird back to entice people to walk on it

Currently WDW's does not allow food and drinks - DL's does.

But the closest thing for me that I would ever consider even using that terribly cliche phrase on is that moment that the "New Management" cuts into the original Tiki Room song and takes over an attraction that to me was for some reason the most magical of them all as a child.

Iago and Zazu may not have raped my childhood, but I'd consider pressing charges for assault:mad:...

Completely agreed. If they wanted to add in Iago and Zazu that's fine, but how about letting Jose and his friends have their song? It doesn't seem like the Enchanted Tiki Room without the song.

I'm all for new stuff, but that song has been a favorite of mine since I was little, and when I went to WDW in '08, I was really let down when I heard the song start and then get cut off, never to be finished.

My parents had never been before that, and my dad was even more let down than I was. He waited since WDW opened to see the Tiki Room. It was painful.:brick:

New things are fine as long as they're improvements. I don't think change for the sake of change is necessary, and a lot of that has happened.

I also don't like the idea of closing an attraction or making it seasonal without a replacement. Each of the parks has space for additional capacity, and while starting from scratch typically costs more - often times replacement attractions are shoehorned into existing space with many restrictions. These restrictions make building a quality attraction next to impossible.

We always point to Stitch's Great Escape, but it's a perfect example. There have been multiple items built in that location as a theater in the round type attraction. Personally, the only one I enjoyed was Alien Encounter, but I wasn't devastated when it was replaced. However, after experiencing Stitch's Great Escape I longed for what was there beforehand.

The problem with that corridor of Tomorrowland is that it's one of the few areas in the Magic Kingdom that is somewhat restrictive they've shoehorned attractions into those locations that have been loose fits at best (I say this as a fan of Monster's Inc Laugh Floor). It would be logical to replace Stitch with a dark ride that uses Mickey's Star Traders for a portion of the track. Mickey's Star Traders could then be moved to the Monster's Inc Laugh Floor location.

I imagine the reason people can eat in the DL Tiki Room is perhaps due to Dole's insistance as they are the sponsor?

Wonder why Dole doesnt take the WDW Tiki Room.... Disney should offer them a super deal (sponsor 2 for 1 1/2 of the money)...

Actually had a fresh pineapple from one of the Dole fields in Hawaii back when I was a kid in 79.... yummy.

Seems like Disney would want to court that idea themselves.... Dole and the Tiki Room do compliment one another. Giving Dole a "Deal of the Century" wouodnt hurt Disney either since they are paying 100% for the WDW Tiki Room now.... and we all know Dole would want the Tiki Room to be like the Disneyland's probably right down to you eating your refreshing Dole whip during the show! :)

Dole may actually think twice about taking the sponsorship deal as things stand right now. As they stand at WDW, the Dole stand is basically the first thing you come to when you cross the bridge from the hub into Adventureland. They have one of the most prime locations in the park, and when the line gets long there it almost creates a bottleneck where people will stop and say "Hey, what are all these folks standing in line for, wow, those ice cream things look awesome, I want one!" I mean, I know that before I had kids of my own, the Dole stand was always the first thing I did on my trip. Stroll down Main Street, bust a left at the Hub, chow on some Dole snacks.

If they were to take a spot at the Tiki Room, they'd most likely lose that prime location. Now, of course, one could argue that the location right there at the corner of the current Tiki Room, across from Jungle Cruise and next to the Magic Carpets, just down from the Pirates would be a very prime location as well, so it may be a moot point. It was just the first thing that popped into my mind when I thought of Dole agreeing to relocate.

That being said, one of the big current draws of the Tiki Room is a nice air conditioned spot to sit and relax on a hot day. If you could also enjoy a tasty Dole Whip while taking that break, in my mind it would be a big win.

Personally, I still love the idea that was Walt's original idea, being a dinner show. It probably is not ever going to happen now, since I am pretty sure the Be Our Guest restaurant is going to do the kinds of things that Walt had originally envisioned for Tiki at DL. I just know that I'd have it first on my ADR list every trip if I could enjoy the atmosphere and music of the original Tiki room while having some Hawaiian / Polynesean style grub. Serve me some Spam over white rice covered in brown gravy, with a side of macaroni salad, let me Sing like the Birdies Sing, and I'd be a happy camper.

I showed my boyfriend the video of the DL Tiki Room, so he could see what I was all sad about. Then I explained to him what he'll see when we got WDW. He was ed!

He pointed out that Iago and Zazu also look like cartoon birds and move as such, whereas the Tiki birds move and look like real birds. It sort of ruins the illusion that real birds are singing to you.

I know I've said it before, and I keep whining about it, but the absence of the songs really bugs me. I wouldn't mind the New Management if they had at least kept the Tiki Room song intact. I liked hearing Thurl Ravenscroft be German....and oh...the one-liners!!:hammer:

I know what you mean!! But in all honesty...the song Lets all sing like the birdies sing is so good also.. love that song almost as much as the lead off of tiki tiki tiki room song.

Walt knew good music....his choices for the show are timeless...

I think what people like about the original show still running at DL is its sincerity. The New Management show brought a nice update to the Tiki Room with added effects/songs/and animatronics, but there is a little too much of that 90s "IN YOUR FACE!" stuff that grates on people, and not enough good ol' fashioned heart.

Bingo. Hit the nail on the head right there. That is exactly I think what is missing from the current show. I can see 100s of bad covers of bad songs with "attitude". Tiki Room had heart.

Did you know that The Mighty Ducks isn't even the name of a hockey team anymore, you hockey pucks?

Oh, and they are under new management as well.
