I just saw this movie on D+ - It is fantastic!
I knock a lot of their decisions of late but I really enjoyed this movie.

The favorite in my household with 2 girls (well, 3 if you count DW) is What Else Can I Do.
DH should shower them this Valentine's day with

It was also nominated for best animated feature along with Luca and Raya. I have not seen Luca yet, but I would definitely give to Encanto over Raya.

I thought Encanto was the weakest of the three (I'd rate them 1. Luca 2. Raya 3. Encanto) but fully expect Encanto to win best animated film.
Encanto won the Golden Globe award for Best Animated Film.

Flee being nominated for best animated feature AND best international film AND best documentary may give it the kind of notoriety to make it stand out among academy voters who tend to stick with Disney/Pixar fare.

This pretty much confirms Encanto was a hit, and interesting that it was described as a franchise could lead to more content down the road.

I thought all three were very good films but I agree that I put Encanto in third place in terms of entertaining me
I enjoyed Luca the most ( a fun flick!) and Raya ( story and visuals) and put Encanto as last because of pacing and character development.
Saying that though I think Encanto will win the Oscar
Because Oscars are not about popularity and entertainment - they are selected by a group of often politically motivated crafts people who look for the artistry more than the enjoyment.

Looks like another Frozen phenomenon. Mediocre film with mediocre music strikes a chord somehow. But Encanto will be unlike Frozen because the merch sales won't be nearly as good, despite what Chapek says. Oh, and Encanto's box office totals aren't anywhere NEAR Frozen's level. The pandemic played a role in that, sure. But how much is the question.
I saw a few sequences of it at my friend's house (he has Disney+). I thought it was colorful but boring. The film's scripting did not inspire me to care about the family. The jaguar was cute, though.
