Cool idea but seems cost-prohibitive and not at all practical.Just saw about this new patent - wonder if it could be used as part of the Encanto ride to make it more immersive and help hide the track and other cars from youView attachment 844409
That’s the definition of everything at a Disney theme park. Haha.Cool idea but seems cost-prohibitive and not at all practical.

Im personally hoping for something like Figment. Where you have 4-5 furniture vehicles on a track going room to room and allowing for a bit more show in each scene, but still keeping a high capacity(with enough cars). Or just a straight up omnimover like little mermaid.I’m very intrigued by the omimover I was sure it was going to a trackless dark ride this could end up being better a (presumably) slow moving omimover would have to have more depth of scenery not that the trackless rides are bad but it’s exciting that end result might be closer to haunted mansion than mystic manor although that would have been awesome too
So most similar to Figment, but on a bigger scale? If so, that's awesome imoI’m home. Not an omni but track based. Specifics are sparse but imagine a static load/unload with one or more (or even a group of 4) RVs moving around the attraction, each with 2 rows per vehicle. Separate ADA load. And a betting man might also say 14 distinct show scenes.

I think track less is nice, but i honestly think omnimover-like systems fit better with the Casita setting and more guest turnover

Animal kingdom does need a more reliable family rideI do think something like Mystic Manor would have been awesome but also know reliability with trackless isn't always that great and something with super high capacity and high reliability is probably the best for this situation
Apparently Cars road rally will be trackless and with elevation changes. What i don't like about the trackless rides at WDW is how flat they are by necessity.
Rise has the elevator and drop, which helps mitigate it, but I think you can do more with tracked vehicles like in little mermaid where you can gradually change elevation, go "up and down the stairs" and rotate the vehicles to focus where you want.
Thats why I'm pumped this might be a modern take on the Figment system. I don't want them to rely on the same things as Rise does to achieve height changes. Trackless will get worn out as a concept if every new ride uses it in similar ways.
See, that one I'm actually excited for. I think it could end up as an incredible ride.Apparently Cars road rally will be trackless and with elevation changes.
It’s not a trackless dark ride though. Like it’s a completely different system.Apparently Cars road rally will be trackless and with elevation changes.
My understanding with the lack of ramps for current trackless dark rides is the issue of tracking a vehicle on the ramp (3d space vs 2d space). If Cars road rally is actually trackless and has elevation changes, there must be a solution to that issue that can be copied into a dark ride. It’s not a trackless dark ride though. Im hoping there is. Because to me it's the weakness of trackless dark rides. I just wonder if it being "off road" is part of the solution and therefore won't be able to be as easily used inside on regular track floors. My understanding with the lack of ramps for current trackless dark rides is the issue of tracking a vehicle on the ramp (3d space vs 2d space). this is what they posted last year what it would be based on.Im hoping there is. Because to me it's the weakness of trackless dark rides. I just wonder if it being "off road" is part of the solution and therefore won't be able to be as easily used inside on regular track floors.
My understanding of the current trackless system is that it uses a series of pucks in the ground that tell it how far a vehicle is from it.With all the issue of ROTR and the rumored "puck to signal" and timing issues, one would think that building a mountain with ramps, edges and cliffs would scare Imagineers a little. May the trackless ride never go off track...
If you add a 5th puck you can send the ride vehicle back in timein 3d space
1 puck would know the vehicle is somewhere along a sphere
2 pucks would know the vehicle is somewhere along a circle
3 pucks would know the vehicle is at 1 of 2 points
4 pucks would know exactly where the vehicle is
On the surface, the solution seems to be 25% more pucks in the ground... plus a LOT more software
