DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

I’ve seen so many convoluted answers on how any given attraction does and does not fit a theme.

The common denominator is that if people like what’s there then an associated theme is accepted, if people don’t like what’s there then all of a sudden it’s theme doesn’t fit either.

If the Indy and Encanto rides are hits, then the associated theme will be accepted.

The real biggest reason Encanto was fasttracked and guaranteed to be a ride was that Lin said that it had to get a ride before he would do a sequel (not necessarily like that but I'm sure that definitely sped things up)

""Everyone's like, 'Will there be a sequel? Will there be a show?' and I said, 'I want a ride before I want any of that,' " said Miranda."

Seems like a lot of the things that Lin touches gets representation in the parks (Lion King, Mary Poppins (supposed to), Moana, Encanto)

Not accusing you of being a liar or anything, but is there a source to the whole "LMM wants a ride for Encanto before doing a sequel or series"? Because I'm trying to find a source for that and idk if I'm looking the wrong places, but I can't find anything to what you said.

Though at the same time, there was an interview back in March of this year with John Leguizamo (voice actor for Bruno Madrigal) and he said a sequel was basically in the very early works

It looks to be exploring a Mayan Temple and will involve a mythical Mayan creature, perhaps with elements of their underworld

So doesn't appear to directly involve dinosaurs but I am sure there will be some Easter eggs

Could be fun if it's mentioned through either the queue or the restaurant in the land that the Dino Institute/Dr Seeker has "contacted Indiana" about a special job that isn't his usual work but can pay well or something. Maybe a little notice, phone, or a radio in. Would be a super fun as a little nod to what was there before.

"In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see."

By the way, apart from closure dates, have we actually had any official updates from Disney about Tropical Americas since 2024 D23? The last new piece of official information was that we are getting an archaeology playground, but that's all we've had, right?

I dont think there is many public released updates other that those 2, but there was some type of meeting that we have images from to show off the work that went into making the area very accurate and true to South America.

Believe that is the latest - other than that Mayan symposium

I suspect this will be the main focus of Destination D23 with a lot of info about the area and rides, etc

They haven't confirmed a full schedule yet. There is on the Saturday August 30 between 2 PM and 5 PM in Florida presentations on the parks and the Walt Disney Studios portfolio, so that's my bet for updates (7 pm to 10 PM UK Time)

I do think that if there is a way to include a snake enclosure in the queue, almost like a well-themed reptile house so it looks like a snake nest in the temple, it would be a nice way to include animals in the new land without needing as much infrastructure or having to close the ride in the evening. Probably wishful thinking though

Sounds great in theory... but some people, and a lot of kids, are petrified of snakes. Walking past them might be hard enough, but having to stand in a line unable to move might induce a dangerous environment for the animals and other guests.
