Disney+ only just started making money last month and it’s likely that’s because Hulu is now lumped in.

That’s not how that works.

The services’ profitability itself has nothing to do with it bringing in billions in revenue in subscriber fees and spending billions on content (of which Encanto is one piece of that content).

Just like how if D+ was making billions in profit as a service, Artemis Fowl wouldn’t suddenly be a profitable production for them. The content is judged on its own merit and also remunerated, on paper, appropriately.

You hate Hamilton?

Wow.

I think it’s an acquired taste. I remember first hearing some of the songs and being disappointed because I was expecting these big, classic, chorus line-y type Broadway bangers. But later I’d be surprised at how I would mentally come back to a song and it would resonate. I think LMM has said he strives for a more conversational style in his music. It’s not necessarily going to be everyone’s cup of tea.

Most of all, I think this is worse than Frozen because we’re replacing a unique animal-centric attraction with a clone (I guess now Frozen is a retroactive clone 🤔), l🤷🏼‍♀️
This isn’t a clone really. Its an IP used on another ride with the same ride system but it’s going to be a completely unique story with a completely unique set of visuals and experience. Unless you mean the track layout which I suppose fair but it’s also been a clone this whole time in that case.

My post wasn’t against Encanto. It was an attempt to show what a waste Disney+ has been profit wise.

I thought I had heard that but then more recent posts made it sound like it would be a clone. If it’s a different (ideally localized to Tropical Americas) version, I’ll be much less disappointed—and more likely to trek over to ride it once a trip.

I think that was all speculation on what could be in the ride. The official word is that it's an Indy ride where he's searching for a mythical creature in a Mayan Temple.

I’m ok with getting most of it started immediately but want to have a second farewell trip for Dinosaur in November and ideally a 3rd one in January. 🙈

Beyond my selfish love of Dinosaur, I don’t think AK can lose another attraction before the holiday busy season.
Dinosaur (the ride) probably won't close till spring of next year, the rest of the land will close this year though.

What you may be hearing is people comparing Dino and Indy because they have the same track layout but offer a different experience. We’re also talking about DL’s Indy as a litmus test for the IP’s popularity when placed in a theme park, not insinuating it’ll be the same ride. I can see the confusion though.

The main thing that makes me optimistic for this is our insiders’ suggestion that it’ll be “plussed” compared to the existing versions.

Since the track layout is essentially the same, I’m wondering if this could also mean one or more compelling pre-shows that make it more of a multi-part experience per the current trend…
