Beginning September 7 2008, Disney Resort Guests need to present their Key to the World cards (or applicable resort ID), instead of wristbands, for accessing evening Extra Magic Hours attractions.

Intresting change as they used the bands to clear people out of teh parks that didn't have one. I think more people will hang around the parks now.

i'm not suprised at this as they did a trial in late Jan/ February to see if it would work, however it does again mean that disney is cutting even more hours for its cast members, to help save money just like most other companys in the hospitality and retail sector, which will not go down well with hourly employed CM's.

Seriously...That htread was here last week..
Why couldn't they have acted that quick on the wand?

So if you don't have a card...Can you still stick around and shop?(and sneak into rides like I do?):lookaroun:lol:

This was decided well before that thread.

Also, you could always stay in the park during EMH just couldn't get into the queues for the attractions. Disney really isn't in a hurry to kick people out if they are still spending money, which is all they can do if they're in the park and not riding things.

Finally, I've always thought this was a horrible way to do things. It's hard on the attraction CMs and makes it harder to control guest flow into the queues. It's saving Disney money though, so that's all that matters to them.

they dont really save on CMs... they go from distributing wristbands to checking IDs in different areas of the park...

Just making sure, because I'm sure there are some here who might have thought was possible.

It's going to be interesting to get reports on how the new way works this time, because the test really was a disaster according to most of the CMs I've talked to. They'd much prefer to stick with the wristbands.

So does this mean they will not be clearing the parks out now for evening EMH? Will regular guests staying into EMH be "allowed" now (like late FP return is "allowed")?

I don't see how this will help anything unless the CM's are diligent enough to check the dates on every KTTW card that goes into the queue, and I can't imagine they will do anything more than glance at it.

I've never done the evening EMH's, we are early morning people and only do the morning EMH, so please excuse my ignorance....

We have done MNSSHP and MVMCP a few times, and for those parties, they put up a rope at the entrance to each land at the hub and only allow people with wristbands to enter the lands - couldn't something similar be done for evening EMH?

Sure they can but I do not think they want to. Disney kind of likes the non-resort guests hanging around and shopping.

My spies tell me that they are going to start employing IR signature markers on the top your head, just like how ground forces mark the "good guys" so when an AC-130 comes over, they can tell who is who.

When you run your resort card through the turnstile entering the park, a invisible spay will mist your head that is capble of reflecting IR. Then later on at night, spotters high up in the Castle will be able to see who isn't marked correctly. Depending on weather conditions, they will either escort those people from the park or rain down 105mm shells. I bet one night of that and you won't ever have a problem with the evening EMH being over crowded. :p
