EMH Days

When we go in May we're staying offsite through a timeshare exchange,so we won't get the benefit of EMH.

My question is this: the Unofficial Guide says to avoid parks on EMH days. In your experience, would this make sense to plan our days to avoid parks on EMH days?

We usually try to avoid the park that is having EMH days ourselves. Hard to say really how they affect the parks that are NOT having them when we go down because we go during our Spring Break in the middle of March and ALL the parks are pretty busy on any given day! You can definitely tell by the lineup at Pop's bus waiting area each morning which park is having it that day!

Always avoid the park with early EMH. It can be a bit hit or miss with late EMH. Just be prepared to park hop if you go to a late EMH park.

The only park I would say absolutely avoid on EMH days (if you're on off site guest) is DHS because your chance of getting a fastpass for TSMM is pretty low. Otherwise, I play it by ear and am prepared to park hop. As the PPs said, later EMHs can be hit or miss.

If I use EMH, I only go there for the hour or up to one hour after the park opens. After that the extra resort guests combined with day guests make the park much more crowded than it needs to be. Since you won't have the advantage of EMH, I would head to a different park on those days.

I guess we are in the minority....we always try to plan to go to the park that has the evening EMH (not morning because we cant wake up that early from being up late from the evening EMH). We love to be at the parks late. We have never had a a problem. But we do try to aviod HS on Fantasmic! days.

I don't usually do morning EMH, but if I do, I go for a few hours and then park hop.
I love evening at MK and Epcot, so if they have evening EMH, I park hop there for the last two hours or so. The first hour of EMH is too crowded for my taste.

I just realized that I didn't answer your questions Since you are staying offsite, yes, you should avoid the EMH days. They are more crowded and you can't take advantage of those extra hours.

Yes, if staying onsite we'd take advantage of EMH. But since we're offsite this time, I was wondering if the Unofficial Guide was correct in saying avoid if possible.

Can anyone tell me if we stay off site and cannot take advantage of the EMH in the morning or evening, can one still enter the park? I would like to go to MK on an EMH morning to go to the bakery or just walk around. Would I be allowed to enter the park and just not go on rides? I'm not sure how it works as I've always stayed on site before. Also, whenever we have gone to an evening EMH we have never had to wear a wristband nor has anyone asked to see a resort room key. (And we have been staying onsite). Is that the norm? Thanks!

For early EMH you will be required to show a room key to enter the park so you will not be able to enter early. For late EMH you are required to show your room key when getting on attractions but non resort guests are still permitted to use the shops and restaurants providing that you are in the park prior to closing time. You will not be allowed to enter the park after closing without a room key.
