Embellishments

What are your must-haves? Do you buy as you need them or do you have a stock of some that you feel you use quite a bit?

I have quite a few different color brads which I've used in card making before. I think they are great for that use; but are there some cute, fun ways to use them in scrapbooking too? Does anyone have any photos as examples?

Those are pretty much the only embellishments I have on hand now. Though I'm looking to stock up on more when things go on sale.

I know disneyfalcon uses brads a lot in her scrapbooks, I'm sure she'll post some examples.

I don't use too many embellishments. I like stickers and flowers, but I really stick mostly to paper and try to add touches that I have cut out with the cricut.

My must haves are brads, letters of some kind (rub ons, chipboard, etc.), flowers and ribbon. I have a ton of embellishments on hand. I hate being in the middle of a page and not being able to finish because I need something!!

I posted in a recent thread a way of using brads to "hold down" brochures. I'll post some more in a little while, but right now I've got to take the kiddos to PE!:)

For me the must haves are definitely lettering of some kind (although now that I have a cricut, not so much), and ribbon. I don't know what I would do without ribbon, I use it ALL the time!

What's the best way to adhere the ribbon to your page? I've found that sometimes glue just doesn't work with ribbon...

I use glue dots for ribbon. They work great. You can find them at any hobby store.

I took some pictures of layouts for you but photobucket is down. So I'll try to upload them again later.

Okay here's a few:

For this one I used brads as the center of the flowers. Sorry for the blurry pic!

For this one I used three brads in the corner to give the page a little more detail, brads to hold down my "ghost" letters, and a brad in the flower again.

This one I used a single decorative brad in the corner to hold down a tag and to add visual interest again.

Oops, one more, very similar colors to the first one. I used them here in a line to repeat the line of ribbon on the other side of the page.

Those are just beautiful pages! I'm definitely inspired to use my brads now!

Quick question... how did you get your "ghost" letter effect? Is it vellum?

Thanks Kat!

No that's their brand name. Heidi Swapp makes them in a few colors. They're called "Ghost Letters". They're clear and a great way to attach them is brads.

Brads are a great way to adhere vellum too though. Most other adhesives show through.

I'm a big brad fan as well. I also use eyelets quite a bit. I've also gotten a lot more into ribbon lately. I do have some ribbon glue that I use, but that can be messy. I really like the ribbon that already has adhesive on it. It's so much easier!

Those are great, Tammy. I'm sure we've seen a couple of them before, but it's always nice to see them again! :)

I have the same paper as the first one, so it's really neat to see what you've done with it.

I love "Terriffically tacky tape" for ribbon. It's a double stick tape, pretty narrow, nice and flat, and really sticky! It comes out nice and flat... sometimes I find glue dots leave little bumps. s
