Does anyone know if there's a place in disney to access my web-based email account? Or do you know where I could go to find an internet portal?

thanks!

Sadly, seeing the parks at breakneck speed, I didn't get to Disneyquest, so they may have email access there. But i made it six days without checking my email, and I only missed two important messages, and really only one of those was a major inconvenience to someone else.

After all, I was in Disney World! :)

Thanks again, Jay-Rod.

:)

post us a trip report!! :-)

I posted a quick recap in the "i'm back" thread in general news and discussion. I stayed off disney property (the downside of deciding to go less than 48 hours before the plane leaves), which I wouldn't do again unless I stayed in the condo my family has across the street from the marketplace (cab fare only $5 from there).

It poured for two out of the three full days I was there, so I didn't go back to the hotel...I spent time in the park straight through.

Their renovating the bakery in MK and some other stuff on Main Street, the hat at MGM is huge, and the Mission:Space pavilion looks very small, but it didn't seem like any construction was going on last Saturday.

Epcot was empty saturday, mgm and AK were empty Sunday, and MK was a nightmare Monday, despite the torrential rains.

Steve....

Guess I come from a different era.....when I'm on vacation I want to be out of touch....out of reach....and out of reality.

Data modules for modems to download pics from a digital camera are one thing, to answer e-mail is another. But I suppose it's a sign of the times.

And, folks please, if you carry a cell phone around Disney so you don't miss that next big swing in the stock market, turn if OFF when you go into attractions so as not to disturb others trying to realize a complete experience.

Tramp-

While I'm "wired," I'm constantly abused by friends and family because I refuse to be slave to it. My cell phone is only on if I'm expecting an important call that can't wait (which may only happen once a month), otherwise I carry it for my convenience. It's usually in my car, rarely on my person.

That said, email is a primary source of communication for me because of my crazy schedule--I'm rarely available to call people back at regular hours.

I'm with you--turn off the cell phones, and forget about the outside world! (Although I was harshly criticized for failing to make the infamous "one phone call" saying that I arrived in Disney safely--I went on vacation alone).

You're absolutely right that there are few times when one must have their cell phones left on while on vacation. The last time I went to WDW, my father was still in the hospital but expected to go home my first day at Disney. I left my phone on, but put it on vibrate only so as not to disturb anyone if I got any calls. I didn't, but also planned to wait until I was off the ride/out of the attraction to answer.

They already warn people in many shows about the use of flash photography so they may as well add "shut off your cell phones" too.

This is just plain, outright stupidity with complete disregard for anyone else....hmmm...now I'll probably be on a mission this trip to see how many people I can embarass when their cell phone rings.

Theaters (I'm specifically thinking of the two Broadway shows I saw this year) do remind you to turn off all personal electronic devices before the performances now.

I saw lots of people on cell phones in Disney last week, including those on attractions or during shows. One guy had a rather graphic conversation about women he and a buddy had hooked up with the night before....

You show 'em, Tramp! :)
