So if the Electrical Parade really does overstay its welcome would you rather have the current music or the origional music? I would be more then happy is the parade was at least back to its origional 90s self.

Mind you, I am an MSEP fan...but if I had to pick, I'd go with one of the incarnations of the original music. My first time seeing it was in the 80s...and I would like to hear it as it was when I was a kid. I'd also really like to see Dumbo return to the parade...really like the music and units in that section. It also seems fitting with the Dumbo updates in MK.

On a side-note, Electrical Light Parade is one of the songs on Dance Dance Revolution Disney Mix. In the arcade after Space Mountain, you can play DDR Disney Mix (if the machine is still there).

With the power of programming they can change it back without spending any money. I care less which parade is running if they had the origional Electrical Parade then I would say they should do an even trade off with Spectromagic every 5-10 years.

I am a huge huge fan of the original music (especially with all the extra bits, like the Return to Oz parts)
I even have an alarm clock, and a pin that plays the music!

I am not sure I like the newer music...it sounds...wrong somehow.

the reason why the music was changed is simple. the Original version and Don Dorsey's version contained a musical anomily . Baroque Hoedown is mostly played in a 2 beat tempo (1,2,1,2) i say mostly because, there is one bar heard throught the track that has one extra beat. When "Dreamlights" was being planned,Greg Smith changed the tempo eliminating that 3rd beat at the request of parade coreographers who had been asking Disney to do it since 1972.

Probably because it's an imitation of classic low-fi Moog sounds using modern synthesizers.
To the untrained ear, it sounds the same, but if you're familiar enough with the original it does sound a bit "off."

I fully agree.
I am not a fan of the redone music. It sounds completely off to me, and lacks the originals charm.
Why did Disney feel it needed to be *updated * anyway? Why not just leave it be, since Guests seemed to love it as is, and the die hard Electrical Parade fans get a big nostalgic buzz off of the original recorded version?

When you compare the two, to my old school ears, the original has no comparison. It was what made the Parade great to begin with.

Of course...i can understand changing times and all, and Disney maybe wanting to try to *plus* something they may have seen as in need of some freshening up ( same can be said for altering the original float units )....but i still wonder why.

Oh wait...maybe it was because the original was *retired* back in the 90s...when there was that huge media event about the Electrical Parade having its final performance. Ah yeah...maybe that was it.
Ya have to change something to make it seem like it is something completely *new* when it is re-introduced again a few years later....

Ah hah ! So that must be one of the reasons why the soundtrack sounds so *off * to my ears.....that missing 3rd beat!

Dang it !

What do you mean IF?! It's overstayed its welcome by a long shot it you ask me!
Yeah but the road looks much longer then it was supposed to be, the Electrical Parade is more then welcome as long as it brings the blue fairy and the Circus units and doesn't play the crappy music it does now.

Well, I dunno about the music versions, but the last time we went to MK (christmas eve) the music just seemed so plain and repetitive. In fact, it even didn't sound like the one in youtube, it was like a small loop repeated over and over again!!
