Eisner Spotted

Sorry, but you're still wrong. You need to do some research before you try to post the same thing again.

Do you even know why Iger purchased Pixar? It was because Jobs didn't want to do the same deal with the next set of movies that had been done the first time. Jobs wanted a portion of the DVD sales and the merchandising, which under the original deal Pixar got NONE of. They only received a percentage of the box office, and that was it. This is fact. So Jobs would not agree to the same terms again, and this caused Iger to buy the company out.

I don't have any idea on what you're talking about with "movie production". That only costs money, it doesn't make it. The highest grossing Pixar film was Finding Nemo, with $339m. Pixar split that money with Disney.
And no, Disney didn't make "just as much". Disney made TONS more from merchandising and DVD sales. Disney knows thats where the real money is, which is why they didn't want to split that money with Pixar.

OK then you tell me why they had to have Pixar approved backgrounds and Pixar approved locatcation mr. smarty pants if Pixar had nothing to do with it???? whats up with that? are you in the entertainment department? because this was a big scandel at WDW in the entertainment department about a year and a half ago... so please tell me the answer since I really have no idea what i'm talking about?????? PLEASE, now the characters stand whereever, but not then....

Never heard anything about it.

Google search comes up with nothing.

What I would say is that you're misconstruing something, or were told something that wasn't exactly correct.

ok let me just say... Not EVERYTHING is on the internet.....
I worked there witnessed it first-hand, when every other day we were getting moved to different locations because Pixar said this and Disney wants that and blah blah blah, it happened with the Incredibles, Woody and Jessie, and Buzz all at MK... I know this, no you probably won't find this on the internet because its not managers jobs to write to the press, it didn't even make it to press. It was a daily bickering between Pixar and Disney about the characters in the park, untill they FINALLY agreed on a location that was outside, but even then the characters had to stand at a certain angle so the Haunted Mansion wasn't in the background because thats not what Pixar approved... trust me i know what i'm talking about i was there first-hand.. dont tell me i dont know what i'm talking about when i was in the middle of it!

getting back to the topic of this thread....

I would go hear Eisner speak, I think it would be interesting. I personally admire the man for running one of the largest, most watched companies in the world, and doing it with a high degree of success.

The pressure and responsibility of running Disney is mind boggling. My brother, my wife, and I all got our degrees in business management and Eisner was brought up in class numerous times. He had a good run with Disney up until the end, when it was right for him to go. You also have to remember that it is never one man who runs a company, I'm sure he had people pulling on him from all sides to sway his decision. Ultimately he has to make the decision based on what he feels is right for the company and like anything else, it's never foolproof.

If it was as bad as you describe, then there would be more than one person who I have ever seen mention it. And as far as "not everything is on the internet" goes, I don't want to even begin to tear apart that statement because I'd be here all day.

Not only that, but Pixar characters had been in the park far longer than a year and a half ago. And finally, a year and a half ago is about when the deal got done, so are you sure it wasn't Disney taking their newly (or soon to be) acquired characters and trying to protect their properties?

First of all, I would like to say that Micheal Eisner is very money hungry, when I was there on college program, I was only paid 6 dollars an hour!! But, Micheal Eisner gave himself a 6 million dollar raise that year.[2003] And as far as Iger doing nothing, coming from three cm's that I know, Iger has reopened traditional animation, and a new movie is due out in a couple of years with traditional animation! Ok I'm off my soapbox.
Most. Awesome. Post. Of. The. Thread.

I did not do the college program because I did not know about it in college so I was seasonal during my summers there, but it is an internship correct? Therefore, they are legally under no obligation to pay you at all, correct?

The previous post regarding the stock option was more than likely accurate but even if the $6 million was to go to the 60,000 Walt Disney World employees alone you are looking at $100 a person. So your raise would be $0.05 (before taxes).

On topic, I'm really glad to see an Eisner thread pop up. We haven't had one in a while. The 5th park, SSE rehab, and Grand Fiesta threads were getting stale.

Even more on topic, agree or disagree with his descision towards the end, Eisner is responsible for the company being here today. And for that, I am personally grateful and can overlook any missteps towards the end.

Really?/? they have been there for more than a year and a half??? really?/?? OMG no way!!!! this has been happening since they came out in the parks, that is why you, used to, see nice backdrops behing the Pixar characters. and now that Disney has full rights to them they are just anywhere and everywhere... and no you probably havent heard this before because the people that i work with, and managers I worked with actually have lives. and no i do not have a life that is why i'm on here!
but what you have been trying to tell me is that Disney had 100% to all Disney/Pixar characters since day 1..
Disney keeps a lot of things away from the public, they always have and always will...

If the WDWCP intership were a real "internship" you might have a point. But having done the CP, I can tell you, from personal experience, that the Disney "internship" is cheap labor. As a rep, I would have never said that, but it's fact. I did have an amazing time on my CP! The best time of my life actually. But, IMO, the only way they can get away with calling in an "internship" is b/c they offer a few classes that you have the option to sign up for, if you chose. The "internship" is, for the most part void of any educational value. Except, perhaps, the personal lessons learnt.

So, yes...they have to pay us. Until they rework their system and somehow make this much for educationally benificial or put us in locations where we can gain degree related knowledge. As it is now, we a cheap labor...

So are you if you have the chance... :lookaroun

Nope the Walt disney Company did that, (as agreed in his contract, they signed a long time before...)
And as far as Iger doing nothing, coming from three cm's that I know, Iger has reopened traditional animation, and a new movie is due out in a couple of years with traditional animation!
Indeed... Robert Iger isn't doing anything... he's only the puppet in the play...
And after letting Pixar in, which looked too obvious, he had to reopen traditional animation, after getting too many complaints from the board...
Ok I'm off my soapbox.
Me too... :D

I look at Eisner like a Good Coach in Professional sports. He had a good "team" to coach. Had some "chamoionship years", Than made a few bad "Draft pics" had some losing "seasons" and the fans lost faith in him and out he went.
