Well, I went to AK tonight to get in some night rides. I got on 3 times at about 6:40, 6:50 (front row), and 7:05. As great as the ride is during the day, it is even better at night. The mountain, the village and the waterfalls all look great at night and the view on the lift is incredible. On the ride the Yeti Mural looks great with the entire area illuminated by candlelight. The entire ride is different at night, and the best part is how much better you see the Yeti himself and the entire room (cave) he is in. I urge everyone to try and ride Everest at night.

My fiancee and I managed to stop by for a few rides after 6pm. Right before closing we caught a ride in the front row. I have to agree, a very cool ride at night. Like Peter menioned above, the 'temple' scene looks awesome. The whole mountain takes on a new tone with the lights on.

On another note. The foliage to the right of the moutain isnt doing so well. The bamboo is turning brown and thinning out. I think that area will look great with some dense greenery...but so far it it's looking worse than when it started. Perhaps it's the frost that we've gotten in the past week. I know my landscaping has seen better days.

i rode everest for the first time today!:sohappy: It was Great and i also got to see all the features in the ride besides the steam, and the yeti was awesome. I get the chills every time i see it.

Does anybody know if EE will be open tomorrow? And if so, what times do you think?
I wouldn't go on Feb.22, I overheard an EE cm while waiting in the single riders line the other night that it would only be open for an hour or two after lunch time, then close for a convention of some sort. Any other day it should be open all the time. Last night I was able to catch a few night rides in on EE. Awesome ride at night! (Oh, and my buddy Yeti was working too!:D )

I may have missed someone else describing night rides on EE, if so, sorry.

It looks like a night ride would be unbelievable with the views and the added 'mood' of the mountain lighting. What did you think? Did it push the experience to a new level?

It's hard to describe. Pretty much just like riding BTMR at night. Great views of the parks around you all lit up, the great view of DAK at night below you, the towering peaks all lit up around you, and it feels a little bit faster at you round the curve out back. Nothing can beat the view of Serka Zong, the tree of life, and the rest of DAK all lit up as you scream down the big drop from the front row. (Also you can see the camera flashes of people taking your picture from the viewing area. ) And Serka Zong and the mountain are very pretty at night.

Absolutely. The ride is stunning at night- eveything about it is 10x better. From the temple scene with great its lighting that you barely get to notice during the day, to the total darkness in the tunnels (especially the tunnel before the double helix---WOW!), and finally the yeti scene... the way it was meant to be seen IMO.

Honestly, it is as if this ride was meant to be experienced at night. Two thumbs way, way up.:D

You never know with soft openings, but I haven't heard anything stating it shouldn't be open. With that said, plus the fact that it's a Saturday I'd say your chances are pretty good.

If they're going to be closing this thing down for any more tweaking, I assume they'd do it on their slower days, or slower times of the day (later in the afternoon, closing the ride by about 2 or 3.)

I rode it 2x again today --

a) didn't notice any tweaking after the break the other week -- esp the 'make it darker on the inside' rumor. They've improved the yeti lighting though
b) finally getting some good hi def video of the ride...had a car to myself -- I'm royalty over thar!
c) no steam -- oh well, I've gotten my fill and new it wasn't going to be reliable post opening.

Just got back and had to do this while there. GREAT RIDE!!!! Great theming, storyline etc. Think it is running on all days at this point. No one that we spoke to said anything about downtime to worry about. The video of the Yeti that was posted in this link or another did not do it justice at all. Very smooth ride. Almost feels like you are going upsidedown as the angle is so steep. A+ to the Imagineers!!!!! :sohappy:

Cool report.

An aside:

Maybe its because it was the end of a busy day and folks were tired -- but there is no way they'll ever get 5 trains running on that track. There was stacking with just the four trains a lot of the time I was there!
