Its really amazing. Especially in the back row. Granted the last two night runs the yeti hasn't been working (how many weeks now!!).

I would love to ride it pitch dark. No light whatsoever on the mountain. Its rare that the park is open past 5, but it happens a few weeks a year.

Maybe I'll take some video.

My wife says it is much better at night. We were there for a nighttime EMH. I let her ride while I watched our (then) 2yo. By the time she rode and exited the ride had closed for the night. I was about 10 steps from the door when they closed it. :( Maybe next time.

The only downside I've found to riding at night is the light emitted from the mountain structure during the reverse part is REALLY bad. Really detracts from the whole thing in my opinion. I'm still very surprised they haven't fixed that.

Huh. I noticed that 2 weeks ago, but not last night.

Crazy.

My guess is that there's probably a light switch or something in the mountain that's off sometimes, on sometimes. When it's on, you see that light. When it's not, you don't.

But who knows. That's just my reasoning, since at certain times it seems a lot worse than others.

I actually voted 'nighttime', but I changed my mind. Its a little too disorienting for me at night. I was more nauseous than usual when I rode it at night.

BUT, I love AK much better at night.

My first-ever time riding Everest was about a month ago on my first WDW trip in over 14 years. Yes, I had some catching up to do!

I went to the Animal Kingdom on a Wednesday for the extra evening magic hours and it did not dissappoint! I started the evening at Chester and Hester's Primevial Whirl and did a spin through Dinosaur, but closed the night at Everest.

For my first time riding Everest, even in the dark, it was something amazing. I rode it 10 times as I was in the single rider line (I did WDW solo, by the way). The entire time and not a bad seat on the train.

I"m quite impressed on how Disney uses ambient light and only lights up the things they want you to see in the dark. And after riding Everest the next day during the day, it took on a whole different aspect, but it is still quite an impressive (and tall) coaster.

But riding a roller coaster in the dark, regardless if it's Everest or Tower of Terror or Top Thrill Dragster or Millenium Force or Magnum XL 200 or Maverick (the last four are from Cedar Point east of Toledo), you get a whole different feeling. It's pretty sweet.

My 2-cents.

I honestly believe you get much more done getting to the parks early and using early entry than staying late with the extra hours. I always found that people are more willing to stay up late that to get up early.
