Echo Lake Refurbishment

I know Disney doesn't have all the rights to MARVEL yet in FL, but once SWL opens in 2019, If they did somehow get the rights back/share couldn't they put the Iron Man ride from Hong Kong which is basically the same ride and then turn that area into MARVEL land based on the MCU and not the comic book versions that are at IOA?

Since I know you have an attachment to the area, what would you miss and what would you not miss? If you were to go along with the mindset of current corporate Disney, what would you feel would be a good mix between theme and current tastes? Because Echo Lake does need work after all
IMHO Indy just needs a makeover. Access to the expansion pad behind is still available (always has been) and potentially into the parking lot.

Plus they have two fully functional theatres wasting their full potential.

Agreed on the theatres. But with Indy, I mean it's been there so long... And in my eye, a stunt show, let alone a perpetually Indy-themed one, doesn't seem like it should have the staying power that other attractions do (similar to Mermaid and Beast... And if it has the ability to outlive GMR, just burn it already).

Is the pad accessible without the destruction of Backlot? What IPs do you think would be appropriate for the theatres?

Sure they could, but the odds of them getting the rights back anytime in the foreseeable future are pretty slim.

Even though it may seem a little SW heavy for some (and come at a loss..sniff sniff... of Muppets) I would not be shocked to see that once SWL opens and is a smashing success, that they use the echo lake area and muppets area for Star Wars expansion, especially focusing on the original trilogy. You can't tell me DIS has not considered it. Imagine a ride themed to Jabba the hut, or a Yoda experience, etc. Just how Potter keep eating up more property at Universal, I see the same for SW. They could even use the expansion place by Indy...

I pray to He on High that will never happen.

Look, if you want Marvel theme-park rides in Florida, there's this little park out there called Universal...

I don't dislike Star Wars but I'm not a huge fan. If the park didn't have Tower of Terror and some other attractions, I'd probably skip it after a few visits if it were mainly Star Wars and Toy Story.

Same here. The last thing DHS needs is more Star Wars after Galaxy's Edge is built. Good god, they're already building a SW hotel for crying out loud. The rest of us who think SW's best years are waaaayyyyy behind it would like some new attractions that are *gasp* genuine Disney. Although, after the disappointment I feel after the Mickey atrocity was revealed, I don't have much hope anymore. TDO just can't seem to come up with good ideas. Very sad to see.

I know that but the fact that Disney owns MARVEL and it's one of the biggest franchises in all of movies today and let's face it, what is DHS based on?
It's a huge franchise and many people like it, if you don't like it, just don't go into it.

People who want Marvel in Disney parks don't understand or appreciate the appeal of Disney parks. Yeah, I went there.

I have no prob with Iger's purchase of Marvel as long as he keeps those anatomically-absurd vigilantes confined to movies. At least Marvel makes money for the company (something that can't be said for certain other ill-advised purchases). But when he sticks those tacky characters into the theme parks, that's when he ticks me off. That's why I was so glad to read that the Summer of Heroes over at DCA has apparently been a fizzle. Its failure will hopefully add to Iger's problems, along with the under-performances of ESPN and ABC. Anything that hurts Iger is good for Disney IMO.
