Several of the unofficial guides and sites are very uncomplimentary about the food at WDW, but I disagree. There are many excellent places to eat, and choices that range from a turkey leg from a stand to an elegant sit down dinner - except that everybody is in shorts and t shirts! I always get the feeling I should be dressed better to eat at the Brown Derby...

the food is one of the great parts of disney. Everything is so good! The best part is that you can always ask for a recipe and you will recieve it. Three years ago we asked for this special mashed potato recipe and we still make it for dinner today. YUM YUM!

We went to WDW about two months ago and by the end of our week-long trip, we were absolutely shocked by the quality of the food.

Everything we ate was terrific. Helped that we used this website and all the wonderful discussions in order to influence decisions on where and what to eat. We also used WDWIG.com to get a look at menus and some restaurant reviews.

Don't heed the "Unofficial Guides" too much since they are about a year or so behind, so some restaurants improve their quality in the interim. Although I do admit if an "Unofficial Guide" really went on about a place being terrible, we took the hint and avoided it.

Our faves for dining included: Marrakesh, Cinderella's Royal Table Breakfast, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys, Back Lot Express, Mama Melrose's, and the Plaza Inn. Every one of these places had some nice discussion in these very threads in the weeks leading up to our vacation. And each place gave us tremendous food and service.

We also became fanatical about the ice cream bars--the chocolate covered Mickey ones are the absolute best! We seemed to have ice cream of some sort every day. Funny how we never ended up with popcorn. Hmm...how'd that happen?

Bon Apetit.

I can honestly say that I don't think we have ever had a bad dining experience at WDW. From the burgers to the full service meals they have always been excellent.

This year we are going to try some of the character meals (Chef Mickey's Breakfast and Mickey's BBQ) and I hope to be suitably impressed again.

I think this is Disneywide as we have also stayed at DLP and the food there was just as good.

Always love the food at Disney World and never had a bad time.

I ate at the 'Ohana in the Polynesian. Talk about "eating 'till you explode"! They just keep feeding you great food :slurp:

I have to agree on the turkey leg: one hasn't been to WDW if they haven't tasted one.

But I'll also say this: hot-dogs from Casey's, chicken fingers from the Pavillion and the burgers from Pecos. :slurp: :slurp: :slurp:

I've never had a bad dining experience at WDW! I have to admit that the turkey legs have never appealed to me at all, but the rest of the family loves 'em (in fact, some of our funniest pictures feature turkey legs prominently1)

GREAT MEALS!

I really enjoyed most all my meals at WDW - the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's the true highlight! I heartily recommend this to all. Truly a meal of a lifetime. Our waiter has been at V&A for something like 12 years.... WOW!

Breakfast at Cindarella's Castle was scrumptious - those chocolate chip muffins incredibly fresh and delish...

I have to say my favorite lunch was at the Rose and Crown at Epcot - United Kingdom. I had the fish and chips and it was fresh, tasty and filling... . We didn't need to eat again until almost 9 p.m. The outside back deck at R&C was pretty, overlooking the water too.

By the way - if you care to venture outside of WDW we ate at Emeril's (BAMM!) in Orlando Universal City Walk and it was out of this world delicious. Courteous wait staff, even had mouth wash in the rest rooms because of the GAAAAHHHLLLIIICCC. YUM

Downtown Disney Paradise Island dining was okay; we ate at Gloria Estefan's cuban restaurant and it was good but nowhere as great as Emeril's. Surprisingly I was not overly impressed with Wolfgang Pucks. VERY overpriced in comparison to Emerils' and weird menu choices. I ended up eating sushi as a dinner entree because none of the other entrees appealed to me and I am a very adventurous eater, too.

Yeah, if out of Disney, I would also recommend Bahama Breeze on International Drive. :slurp: They also have mouth wash in the restrooms and the food is great! If you order half portions, you still get full and have room for dessert! :slurp:

Hey, even if you don't love the taste, you should have one just for the experience. Eating like a caveman! LOL

I think that the unoffcial guide is too harsh on WDW restaurants. I prefer to rely on word of mouth(or internet). These seem to be more reliable

I think one of the reasons why dsiney food is so great is because of the variety. there really is something for everybody, even if you are a picky eater or an adventerous one! saying this, i think a lot of people who visit disney have no idea about the actual range of food there is. For our family its was only when we actually stasyed on site for the first time that we ate at some of the other resorts, a lot of people stick to burgers in the parks and downtown disney for their meals.

I am soooooo hungry now......dammit. Me and my mum always diet before we go to disney so we dont feel bad when we eat all the lovely food, but actuallyb i have found that for all the disney food i eat i dont put a huge amount of weight on....hmmmm, i think its the walking that does it. Also food related....we come from chily england where its always raining (at the moment anyways) but i have found that the florida heat makes alcohol go to my head waaaaaay quicker? anyone else get this?

:p :p :p I so Want some churros!:p :p :p
