Interesting. So you can pay 300 a night to stay in "deluxe" rooms now. Or the tower across the street. There goes another perk, and it hasn't even started yet!
This is the perk for all onsite guests. Not the extended evening hours for Deluxe resort guests.

They are getting the extended evening hours too.
I don’t actually have a problem with that. Nor SoG which I also think should be included.

I will be annoyed if some of the DS hotels get included in the evening hours though. Tbh, I wish they couldn’t just buy their way in to onsite perks, but that ship has sailed long ago. $$$ speaks.

If DS hotels qualify - I'd think Bonnet Creek hotels and Four Seasons would also.

I'd be really surprised if the DS hotels get it, since moderate and value Disney resorts don't.

That would almost be begging guests to stay off-site if they aren't at a deluxe.

I don't consider Swan and Dolphin as deluxe resorts. They are as close as it comes, given the friendship boats as a premium transportation offering, but I see this as a slippery slope to adding the off-site hotels just like they did with EMH before. Shades of Green I don't think of as deluxe either, but I can certain understand a pass on that for military families. If it stops at these then so be it.

S&D being treated as a deluxe is surprising... wonder what small fortune they are paying TWDC for that right. It certainly will be a better deal than anything Disney themselves offers for their own deluxe hotels.

Disney might not have a choice. Swan & Dolphin might have a contract that allows them to buy in to any extended hours.

While those resorts are certainly deluxe in terms of price point, I wonder if the move will alienate guests. It's a perk given to non-Disney guests that many Disney guests no longer receive.
They are more expensive than DS hotels for sure, and nicer, but in my limited comparisons I've seen the prices more in line with moderates at WDW. But as others have said, they may have a special deal in their contract/lease that allows them to participate in all programs that on site hotels do.

Yes, the prices are around moderate or in that in-between zone of moderate/deluxe prices at WDW. Obviously S&D are essentially on-site hotels with their location so this just continues that tradition. I'm not sure any other off-site (other than Four Seasons as someone else mentioned) will be granted this benefit.

I was starting to investigate doing a DVC rental for my trip, but this adds another option for the EEMH in that same cost ballpark. For only 2 days/week I wonder how much of a benefit it will actually be.

Very interesting. We’ve often booked Swan, and I feel like Swan and Dolphin are ‘close enough’ to deluxe (I see them as in-between Disney moderate and deluxe, typically at a better price point) but wouldn’t have expected the evening hours for them.

Still, I think it’s a fair enough choice to make: go for the central resort with this perk but lose ‘Disney magic,’ or save money at a value/moderate with Disney magic. Beats Disney deluxe & deluxe villas only.

Also, the evening hours, if limited to one park per night, just wouldn’t be that enjoyable if opened up to the same number of rooms.

I guess I don't understand adding Swan/Dolphin and the new part, yet excluding the actual other on-site Disney resorts.

Does Disney make money off of Swan/Dolphin bookings?

Shades of Green guests should be eligible for all the Deluxe rated benefits. The SoG guests deserve that much.

Here's the cost of rooms for the Dolphin and Swan. Yes, you can find cheaper days, but in general, not so cheap...

Those are massive price fluctuations. $260 for some nights and $1000 for others?

Regardless, it's still closer to a Disney moderate on average. You usually won't find a Disney deluxe room for less than $450 a night.

Its a long and complicated contract written over thirty years ago prior to most of the onsite hotels even being built. Different Leadership on both sides and very different circumstances. Nothing like that would have ever happened today.

remember its first and foremost a convention hotel and that drives the daily demand
