1. Fastpass gone-longer wait
2. EMH gone-longer wait
3. Mears Shuttles (oops magical express) gone, longer wait

So it's now to be a PITA to get from Airport to hotel. (old days it was 90 minutes to 2 hours)
Waiting for all rides with no exception.
More crowds, less control, less fun, same price. (or higher)

So my "perks" have been removed (and I will get strong arguments from the crowd reading), why go to WDW? My kids are grown, I can't wait to see what 4-5 year olds will do with 1 & 3. Tired parents, frustrated children....

They're using Covid to remove expensive items that I'd dearly suspect they wanted to "prune" anyway. It will be interesting from a distance seeing how this plays out
I might have miss this, but there's no more FP+??

I have a sneaking suspicion that the total number of park hours will be reduced, so say MK opened at 9, it’ll now open at 10 with on-site guests arriving at 9:30, staffing would be the same either way. And then it’ll close earlier for more after-hours events.

I’m feeling more and more that a “base” Disney package will be made so undesirable to encourage costly add-ons. Like how a base model of a car is lacking just enough to make you consider one trim level higher. Or an airline like Spirit piling on the fees.
I think we will see increased hours as demand (number of visitors) increases, perhaps as soon as fall 2021 or certainly in 2022 as WDW has responded as needed to meet demand in past

My thoughts are moreso for in the future if Disney truly embraces "packages" to a level we've not seen before. But I could also see the company trying upcharge events in the near future before extended hours.

Up until now, they've usually allowed all guests through the turnstiles earlier than the scheduled opening time. I think they'll (hopefully) stop that practice and they'll just be allowing onsite guests through and have several rides open to them. As long as they are strict about not allowing off-site guests through the turnstiles before official park opening time (including early breakfast reservations) and they have several desirable rides open, I'm ok with this. But 30 minutes is a very short window, so on-site guests will need every minute of that time before off-sites are allowed in for there to be any value in it. Honestly, we rarely utilized EMH in the evenings anyway. The chosen EMH park was always more crowded that day and all the day guests remained in the park making EMH very crowded as well. If they manage it appropriately and carry through with implementing it at every park, every day, it will be of some value to us.

But honestly, what I want more than anything and can only dream that Disney will one day implement, is a FastPass system like Universal's Express Pass. I would so love to not have to plan every minute of every day, to be able to wander the parks and shops completely relaxed and spontaneous and just get in the FP line at each attraction as we come to it. That's how we do Universal/IOA and it is so much easier and more relaxed than Disney. And yes, I would be willing to pay for this, but again, it all hinges on how it is implemented and managed.

I think this is a precursor to eliminating FP+............One of the main benefits of a resort guest was the 60 day booking window..........If Disney eliminates FP+ and does a paid system like MaxPass, that eliminates advanced bookings......Then Disney will be able to say resort guests can get a "jump" on regular crowds by accessing Early Entry..................The only problem is, not everyone wants to get up early and 30 mins is hardly enough time.

Seems like a lose (no FP+ for resort guests), lose (no rope drop for day/ap guests), lose (everyone will have to pay) situation to me for all guests and a win for Disney

Well I'll be over in the "happy with this change" column. We go for 9 nights and always used the early hour to just take pictures and wander a less crowded park since we have plenty of time to hit the rides.

Now we will have 30 minutes before the crowds come in every park, every day - which I think will be a benefit in spreading the resort people around all the parks instead of all of us coming to the only one with an early hour.

Imagine, if right now they announced “pay for FP” as part of the 50th celebration. Right after, they announced Magical Express and Extra Magic Hours leaving.
Fastpass will definitely come back at some point. They wouldn't have installed the signage for Ratatouille if it wasn't. However I would be completely shocked if the system comes back exactly like it was before COVID without atleast some sort of paid options.

When they bring Fastpass back, I would be OK with it being like what they do at Tokyo Disneyland or Maxpass. I'm all for going back to a model of not having to plan every single day of your trip months in advance. This extra time at every park seems like a step in that direction.

I'm not sure I want that system at WDW, but I was excited to try it on the trip we had planned. We were going to stay at Saratoga Springs, but were going to book a Universal hotel and possibly not even stay there just because it included Express Pass for everyone and would work out to be cheaper that way.

As a resort perk this would be a non-starter at Disney. Their room to attraction capacity ratio could never support that.

As a paid add-on, the question becomes how much would you be willing to pay?

Disney would either need to severely limit the availability of this feature on a daily basis or price it at something astronomical to not make the fastpass lines look like a less awful standby line this way.

Their main problem for quite a while now has been that they simply do not have enough desirable attraction capacity to comfortably accommodate the number of guests they let in their parks.

Sure, there is usually a seat available on Carousel of Progress on any given day but how many times in a row is someone going to ride that?

They had me/us. While we still enjoy going, we may focus more (when they return) on Disney cruises. Hell, a 7-night cruise for my family of 6 is cheaper than a week at WDW. And the kids can eat and drink as much as they want.

Its cheaper at the moment.... we are avid cruise fans but I fear that prices will sky rocket and there will be some nickel and dimeing with the new ships.... I feel like food uncharges will be coming as is common in the wider industry - ie $20 uncharged for a fillet or lobster etc. I hope I'm wrong!
