Early October

I am thinking about making a trip to Disney in early October. Can anyone give me an idea of typical October weather, if there are crowds at that time of the year? Thanks.

The crowds are great. 15-20 minute waits for rides.

The weather is medium. It is still really hot during the day, but it doesn't rain as much as it does in September.

We've gone a few times during the first and second weeks of October and had beautiful weather. Maybe we just lucked out but we didn't get any rain at all. Ok, not entirely true, it did ran once overnight but it was after we were in bed and it quit before we got up. The weather was hot but not the overwhelming hot that you get during summer and and we only ran into crowds one day. The rest of the trip we pretty much walked on everything. IMO, October is a great time to visit.

Went in October 2 years ago weather was gorgeous except for one night where it was just overly hot and humid, of course this was the night we went to MNSSHP, so oh well, other than that light crowd the whole week, it only rained one day and other than that it was beautiful.

We went the second week in October in 2008 and with Columbus day being that first Monday we were there, it was pretty crowded. The weather was great though, and we still were able to do most everything with smart planning, fast passes, and touringplans. But it was just a little upsetting and stressful when we were expecting light crowds. Waits were pretty long on most things, several hours for the main attractions mid-day. Even the cast members said we should have gone either the week before or after, when it's super quite.

Love October with all the Halloween decor though, just don't go the week of Columbus day if you can help it!!

We've visited in October 3 times and have enjoyed it everytime. As posted, the lines are much, much shorter and the weather is much more comfortable (compared to summer months). As I recall, we never needed to wait for any attraction more than 25 minutes and that included rides such as Soarin', Space Mountain and Mission Space.

As for the weather, we did experience a few afternoon showers but not the thunderous, downpours that could put a big dent in your vacation plans.

We have been going for the past few years at the beg. of October and it is great. Last year the weather was abnormally hot! The weather is perfect for me, the crowds are not too bad and MNSSHP and the Food and Wine Fest are big selling points.

October is a beautiful time to go as it is still warm but not skin melting hot. That said, it is still the height of hurricane season so it is gamble. We take the gamble and we generally aren't betting people so that may tell you how much we like the weather at that time of year!

As for the crowds, they are generaly smaller. Disney knows this so they do everything they can to get people in to the parks. Remeber to check for those things. I know when I checked the other day, they had two big things scheduled for that first week, not counting MNSSHP. One was the EPCOT food and wine festival but I can't remember the other ( I think it was for the 2nd-5th if that helps.) The crowds won't turn to summer or holiday crowds with those but do expect them to be longer then perhaps the week before.

Hope that helps...

Our family used to go every year in October. Besides one or two short scattered showers per day (and I mean short - 5-10 minutes), the weather was incredible, the lines were amazingly short and sigh...loved it. (Sorry - the good ole' days when we'd get out of school for teacher convention week and have THE most magical time. Then I was in college, then brother, now sister...so summer's the best time to go.)
