Eagles!!!!!!!!

Vince, trust me...as a Patriots fan...I would NEVER say that the Eagles stand no chance of winning. Sure, the Patriots dominated the best offense in the league...and they ran up the score against the best defense in the league...but then again...the Patriots lost to Miami. Anything can happen on any given Sunday.

I love it that the Eagles are underdogs. That's what makes it fun. If people expected them to win, then how much fun could it really be?

The best, most memorable wins are always the ones in which the underdog beats the favorite. That's what was so great about the Red Sox beating the Yankees. If the Yankees had beat the Red Sox and went on to win the World series, how many people would have remembered it two years from now? The Yankees fans might be happy when their team storms to undisputed title after undisputed title, but to the rest of the country it's just a big yawn.

From today's paper:

"How touching," Boston Globe sports columnist Bob Ryan wrote yesterday, dripping with sarcasm over the Eagles' takedown of the Atlanta Falcons after three championship losses in a row. All of Philadelphia, he said, was saved from the "plunge into mass depression." But there's not even a "scintilla of doubt," Ryan said, that two weeks from now, it'll be Patriots head coach Bill Belichick who gets showered in Gatorade.

Man, it is only going to be sweeter when we win this. You know what, I actually don't feel worried at all. I just believe we will win. And all this stuff just adds more fire to our hearts.

And Brian, I'd warn you to stay away from us. Stop trying to play nice and try to be "sportsman" about things and just step away from us. That's not how we do things here. This is a war and there are no friends in war. So just step away before it gets nasty.

Good news. The Eagles have gotten a new backup tight end. I feared they would just sign some bum that doesn't deserve to play in the Superbowl. But they didn't, they got a familiar face, Jeff Thomason. Thomason was with the Eagles for most of the Andy Reid era up till when he retired before last season. He wasn't a major player for the Eagles but if you recall, all he ever caught were TDs in the redzone. He was actually working as a project manager for a construction company when he got the call that the Eagles need him back. He's also in great shape, doing triathlons and stuff. This year just seems like a reunion, doesn't it? The band's all getting back together for one last fight. Jeremiah, Hugh, Dorsey, and now Jeff. If only Bobby, Troy, and Duce could also be a part of this. They will always be Eagles to me.

Check this out:

It seems to me that the Eagles have had some incredible teams over the past 17 years since I moved to the Philly area, but only made it this one time to the Super-Bowl, so I found this site: http://home.jps.net/~fos/nfl/nfl.htm

Over the past 17 years, they have had 12 seasons with 10 wins or better. They have made it to the playoffs 11 times, but this is their first Super-Bowl. They have to be the best team in the last 20 years to not make the Super Bowl.

If I was Andy Reid, I'd tack that up on the bulletin board. They've been working too hard for too long to not take advantage of this and make it pay off now. Who knows how long it will be until they get the chance again?

Exactly, that is why I have no doubt in my mind we will win this. We've waited too long, fought too hard, gone too far to lose. You can see it the Eagles. At yesterday's press conference, you could see the fire in Brian Dawkin's eyes. This is it. This is what we've been waiting for for so long.

The greatest line ever!

"I have two weeks' vacation time. If I have to use it for this, I will."
- Jeff Thomason, currently working for a construction company, now rejoining the Eagles for the Superbowl

First of all...Bob Ryan is a loser...and he is known as one throughout Boston. I can't stand him and he should've lost his job last year...somehow he didn't.

Second of all..."Stay away from us?" What does this mean? It's not like I bump into Eagle's fans on a daily basis around here

I'm not "playing" the sportsman role...that's just how I am.

Of course we all know by now that Vince is just . . . how can I put this delicately . . .

COMPLETELY INSANE!!!!!

But as for me, I can't think of anything better than having a Patriots fan around in the coming weeks.

Well then, take your sportmanship elsewhere. It's not wanted in here.

Last time I checked...this was in Chit-Chat...and it's an open forum on STEVE'S site. If Steve doesn't want me posting in a thread...he can be the one to tell me. I don't think I have done/said anything wrong...except given the Eagles credit.

Vince, I know plenty of Eagle's fans don't feel that sportsmanship is wrong (Gary, you are one of them). I know you need some help when it comes to this...and you get worked up and everything...so I'm taking it with a grain of salt.

See, and that's what makes it fun! Harmless razzing of the other team's fans is good for the game! You'll never hear me say that the Patriots are going to crush the Eagles...I just don't feel that this will happen. It will be a hard-fought battle and the better team will win...if it's the Eagles...Great, congrats! If it's the Pats...it's the Pats. Nevertheless...either way it turns out...next year there will be another team crowned (unless there's a repeat) and life will still go on.

Let's see, the Bengals marched up and down the field all day on the Patriots. If Carson had not made those mistakes (yes mistakes, gimmees, what ever you want to call them it was not because of that defense) the Bengals would have ended the Pats little home streak. And the Eagles, sure Donovan did not play (not sure who else didn't) but the Bengals still whumped them pretty good. What does this all mean, you may ask. Why cloud up the Superbowl week with talk of an 8-8 team. . .Why. . .Why. . .Why. . .

Just a poor Cincy fan with nothing better to do. Go Kentucky!!!!!

As for the SuperBowl. . .I would like to see the Eagles win, especially if T.O. is not able to play, but I think the Patriots are just too tough.

Ahem..... "What we have here is, FAILURE to communicate."

Ya see Brian, this has nothing to do with Steve or Steve's site r this forums or chit-chat. Youre missing the point. Sports is a religion in Philly, and people just dont get that.

NE (nor their fans) are taking the Eagles seriously and thats why NE is going to LOOOOOOOSE! :D

Amazing how that life will go on if the Patriots lose to the Eagles, but what do you think would have happened to Red Sox Nation if the Cardnials had swept them, eh? The city would still be burning....

You just don't get it, do you? You just don't get it. I don't care anymore. I'm done listening to you... so whatever, ra ra ra, let's all shake hands and let the best team win and have fun and rainbows and lollipops.

This is our livelihood. This is our passion. This is our fight. This is our dream. This is our war.

That's what Siegried said to Roy before that horrible accident. How truly devastating. Or was that Tigers? Either way, it's all Detroit.

But hey, this is an Eagles thread after all. So here is a haiku for you Eagles fans.

Look, Vince this is the second time you've used the term "war" recently in this thread and I've gotta tell you I have a couple of friends/former co-workers who are currently deployed in Iraq and this is no war. Out of respect for the families who have loved ones in harm's way and are worried sick every single day, please don't use this term to describe a freakin' game again.

Peace.
