Re: Re: Whats the difference?
The Die Hard DVD has this comparison, and it's narrated so you get to understand it even better from a cinematographer point of view.
I don't know why, but yeah, it came out in the end of September. Usually we have to wait A LOT to get something that has alread being released in the US, but there are a few exceptions. We got BTTF and Spider-Man (DVDs) before you guys, but Scooby-Doo was only released in theaters in October, and Reign of Fire just started yesterday.
By the way, we're Region 4.
And the BTTF box is amazing. Great menu screens, great box design, the commentary features are great, deleted scenes, making-ofs, blooper reels... It was well worth all the wait, and I hope the future (let's hope it doesn't take SO long) Indy Trilogy has the same benefits...

And the difference can be astounding with some movies. Back in the old days there was this technology called ?laserdisc?. On laserdisc, most movies were played back widescreen and there was an example with the movie ?Dances with Wolves? where they compared a scene in widescreen on laserdisc and one formatted to fit your screen (the way it was released on video) and in the scene where there are three characters talking, one is completely not visible on the full (formatted for TV) screen version because they were completely cut out.
