E-Ride Night's WDW TRIP UPDATE! 1/24/09

Hey guys, just got back from a week long WDW trip with my girlfriend. Had a blast, thought I'd share some updates with you!

MK:

- Splash Mountain was running perfectly, everything looked clean and sharp.

- CoP had some issues with the spinning of the rooms and in the second room, the host's hair was all messed up.

- Haunted Mansion was running stunningly and I'm still so impressed with the new rooms!

- Crowd levels were quite average all week at this park, despite the tripplanner's website saying it's a low week.

MGM (yes I still call it that):

- Toy Story Mania is a great ride! However, if you want a fastpass for it make sure you get there right at the park opening because they were gone in about 25 minutes!

- Sci-Fi Dine-In felt a little weak this year. The food wasn't that great tasting and the waiters didn't seem to interested in anything.

- The High School Musical thing on wheels was so rediculous. I can't stand anything about that show, and it just made me angry seeing people fake sing. Trust me, most of them are faking it. I hate teeny boppers!

AK:

- Due to the cold weather, hardly anyone was riding the KRR.

- EE was running perfectly, and yes, the mist was working.

- Corn Dog nuggets are great! You should all try em!

Epcot:

- SE was running perfectly, it didn't break down once, can you believe it! The video at the end always make me laugh and my girlfriend was cracking up like crazy! It's great that they let you email the video to yourself for free so you can download it to you computer! A great souvenir!

- The line for Figment was completely dead, I don't think anyone likes that anymore. It's a shame. I miss the old Dreamfinder version.

- All of the World Showcase had their entertainers out each day and made for an exciting time, as I've never really explored each individual country for a long period of time.

Overall, the crowd levels were quite on the low side but the fastpasses were still "sellin like hotcakes", so if anyone is planning on going, don't think you'll get away with getting FP times whenever, you still have to be aggressive about it a little bit.

Hope you all enjoyed this!

Thanks

Kyle :wave::wave:

ALL of EE was working? Yetti too?

I agree about Sci-Fi, waiters with personality and enthusiasm would be great (and a new film would be too, but we can't expect Disney to do that).

Thanks for the update.

EE had the mist working?! Whoo hoo! :sohappy:

And what exactly was happening when you say the CoP had issues spinning the rooms? Were they stopping halfway? Were they not turning on time? What was happening?

Yeti was there and working well.
Err...was he actually fully lit and lunging at the train, or was he lit primarily by strobe lights? Also, where was the mist--at the very top of the mountain, or along the ride track? As of the 19th, there was no mist and Yeti was in B-mode.

We were able to get a second fast pass for Toy Story Mania around 11:15 in early December, but they ran out shortly thereafter.

As for Everest, I'm guessing the Yeti wasn't working/lunging at the train - can someone else confirm this?

I'd volunteer to go check it out, but DAK closed at 5 today, and due to my work schedule, I won't be able to get back there until Friday at the earliest.

I noticed that too in the CoP....John is one of those AA's that does alot of movements with his head, and his hair seems to always get messed up in the 1920s and 1940s scenes....can't they just provide a gelled or glued wig thats in solid place like they do for the greek math teacher on SSE or will they have to lay off 4 people to break even to pay for the cost of some new wigs.

I was amazed with the HM refurb, but found that the sinister eleven portraits aren't very will lit, it's difficult to see their eyes follow you.

Anything interesting in SSE......any more triangles lit up? :lookaroun :D

Nothing new in SSE decent. The "breakdowns" that some people refer to often aren't breakdowns at all. Since it's a continuously moving ride, and the load/unload platforms are short, often they have to slow or stop the ride to get people on/off. Sometimes people drop things between the cars and this is the only way to retrieve them.

Most of WDW live entertainment shows in the parks (save for Finding Nemo, the soloists at FOTLK, Ariel and a couple of other small venues) are lip synced. They do this for a few reasons.

SSE Video - there are computers when you walk out of the ride and you type your email address into it and they email you the download link.

EE - the yeti is lunging at the train and the strobes are going. The whole thing was working. The mist was at the top of the mountain also.

Just wondering when you rode Everest...because I've talked to a few CMs that I know at DAK and they're also shocked about the Yeti being in A-Mode

Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just telling you what I saw. This was meant to be a happy trip update. I didn't want to cause controversy!

I thought the strobe was only for B mode. Am I wrong?

I've never seen the strobes on with A mode either.

BTW, it was reported that the Yeti was in B mode today (1-24) on another site.
