Dwarfs Roller Coaster Speed

Well the Barnstormer is 35", so I expect it to be right around that.

I would never expect this to be a "thrilling" ride, but it will certainly thrill many little ones!

The article says somewhere between Barnstormer and Thunder Mountain, which is what I would expect. As long as this thing is themed well, I think it will be a hit with kids and adults. If it has the speed of barnstormer, maybe a little faster, and the length and theming of Thunder Mountain, I'll be very happy. The artwork looks fantastic, so I think this is a huge upgrade from what was originally planned with the meet and greets...

Apologize if this has already been posted but news about the anticipated speed of the new coaster ... What do you guys think: 36" height requirement or so?

I am sure this will upset some people looking for more of a thrill ride, but it is Fantasyland folks, a place that should be all about the kiddies!

I'm sure you will flamed by a certain member on here for saying that. He already tried twisting my words around telling everyone that I said that (even going through lengths of PMing me to call me out). He will defend it to the death that it will be a thrill coaster.

I am all for this type of thrill -- heck, I consider Thunder Mountain to be a big thrill. It is those among us who prefer the type of ride at the other Orlando park has more of that might be a bit disappointed. Personally, I like the fact that I won't loose my lunch on it and can enjoy it with my kids too!!! :D

The speed of 15-20 mph would be perfect... but again, anything is better than the M&G's... both are a Disney staple but if there's room for it we'll always choose a ride!

Raven, do you know how long the track is in comparison to say... BTM?

I agree. WDW is more than just for kids. I loved it as a kid, but I also appreciate it as an adult (with no kids). I do think that WDW forgets that people like me exist sometimes...

I think it is more than just thrills, though. Disney needs to remember that adults like substance to the attractions.

I'm sure I'm not the only person to respond to this (having not yet read the thread) but. . .

it is Fantasyland folks, a place that should be all about the kiddies!
Since when? That's not the point or purpose of Fantasyland. Disney World should appeal to all ages, Fantasyland included, and that is the intention.

Tell me: what land will you find the Matterhorn in when you go to Disneyland? What land will you find the Haunted Mansion in when you go to Tokyo? How much of a "kiddy" attraction was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea?

This has little to do with my feelings on the Dwarfs coaster. It just has to do with the idea that Fantasyland "should be all about the kiddies" is very, very, very wrong. It's not a kids land, it's a land in a theme park dreamed up by a man who wanted a place where he and his two daughters could have fun together, instead of himself just watching. The theme of that land happens to work pretty well with rides that are more in tune with young'ns than some other areas of the park, but that does not mean Fantasyland needs a narrow view as the "kids land" of the park.

On a separate note, between Barnstormer and BTM is a perfectly fine ride to get some thrills in for everyone. That's faster than Space Mountain, I do believe. Nothing to complain about here, unless you were expecting something to match BTM, and I don't think anyone was.

When will Disney realize that Walt Disney World isnt just for little kids anymore? I would take a Hollywood studios expansion over this anyway
I think they do realize that, which is why this ride isn't just for kids.

Also, what do you mean anymore? When was it ever just for kids? If anything, it's trended to having MORE focus on attractions for just kids. The park was born in part because that wasn't Walt's idea of fun.

Fantasyland isn't the place for a "thrill."
There's no reason it can't be, other than limited space. It's not necessarily the best place, and I'm just fine with what I'm hearing about this ride, but there is no reason you can't have a thrill ride, like the world's first steel rollercoaster or something, in Fantasyland.
